Looking For Dilaudid Similar To Old K 4

Recently the Dr gave me Dilaudid 4 mg to take 3 per day. I've not had Dilaudid since the old K-4's were out there. Therefore I knew nothing about them. I told the Phar. that I "definitely" wanted the name brand. I was charged $130.00 for 86 tablets and was assured that they were the name brand. The ones I got said Dilaudid but made by Purdue so the tablet had a 4 on one side and a P on the other. They looked just like the old K-4's but they are not near as good. I've learned by looking on the computer that they no longer make the K-4's and hear that you're talking old school when talking about Dilaudid K-4. I can get the Generic for $2.50. However, I need to crush them and I inject them in muscle. They look just like the old K-4's when cooked. I do this because I have cirrohisis of the liver and usually get nausuated when taking a med. by mouth. So what is as "clean" as the old K-4 and just as "strong". I've been taking methadone 10 yrs and would like a break from them, at least for 6 months as they don't work as well as they used to. I'm up to 60 mg's a day and was only taking 30 per day when started 10 yrs ago. Please send any information you may have as I'm in chronic pain. So tired of it all I'm not an addict, I am chemically dependant. Big difference. Maybe one day I'll be able to find releif with a laser surgery. I'm now 61 and no Dr. will do a regular surgery and I can't take antitheseia (sp) as it may kill me due to liver disease. Hope to find something similar to old K-4's Thanks

Have you tried just asking your doctor for an injectable medication? They are available and they are much safer to inject, since they are made to be used in this manner.

Injecting tablets, of any type, that are not meant to be used that way can be very dangerous. They contain fillers and not all of them are meant to be broken down by the human body. Normally they are just expelled in your waste, but if you inject the tablets, your body cannot process them out and you are creating the risk of blockages, which could result in stroke or embolism.

There is also another alternative that you could take to your doctor about, which doesn't involve swallowing a pill and that would be the Duragesic patch, it contains the active ingredient Fentanyl, which is a very strong narcotic and the patch is time released, so it lasts for 3 days.

It's available as both a generic and name brand.

You can learn more on it here:

Does anyone else have any advice to offer?
