Anyone who is an established patient of a physician and taking any type of pain medication for verifiable injurys shouldn't have any trouble having a new pcp physician continue to write your scripts, unless you have been taking narcotic pain medication stronger than 10mg. Then any physician can verify your script history thru there D.E.A. database, those that are taking heavier pain medications like oxy-15mg. Thru 160mg oxycontin, will need to see a pain management doctor. However if you are completely out of your meds any decent doctor can write you enuff to get by until your able to get in to see the specialist...If a doctor tells you he cant write it, he's a liar and could be held in contempt by the medical board, usually if you arrive to your appt. with mri reports and a list of medications your taking, any reasonable doctor will give you what you need. Theres no legitimate medical justification for a doctor to refuse giving you what you've been taking, or what you know works for you. Many ppl are unaware that they have a huge say in what there doctor prescribes you, for instance if you prefer narcotic pain meds over ibuprofen, and it gives you relief, your doctor would have an ethical and professional obligation to give it to you. As a patient you have a right to receive medical treatment that is consistent and beneficial to your over all well being, and that means if lortab gives you relief and it works, then you should not ask, but tell the doctor thats what you want. Ive heard to many stories of ppl needlessly suffering in pain, because sum arrogant born again doctor doesn't believe in prescribing narcotic pain meds. Well thats tough s**** if they dont believe in it, if its been established that you've had it, and you insist it works, then he is supposed to write it for you, if he dont you can either tell him your going to make a stink about it and do it, or go to another doctor, but for them to tell you they dont write that stuff isnt good enough reason to not prescribe it.
