Very sorry about what you are going through.
There are several pain management doctors and clinics listed in the St. Louis area, however, I don't know any specific details on their treatment protocols, or the types of insurance or payments they accept.
However, here is the contact information, so you can look into them:
Pain Management Services
1070 Old Des Peres Road, Saint Louis
(314) 821-8644
A&A Pain Institute
Ste 165, 555 North New Ballas Road, Saint Louis
(314) 692-7246
Professional Physician's Pain Services
10012 Kennerly Road #404, Saint Louis
(314) 729-7100

Does anyone else have any recommendations?
Thank you SO MUCH!!!
The 1st listing - they're worthless!!! They kept me waiting for 5 weeks, only to say, " we're sorry you're not a good candidate for our office. We can't help you, we ONLY do injections". Very amusing about that statement.. because, it is in total contradiction to what they state on their website! They did not even bother to bring me in, speak with me about my medical history, and try to form a treatment plan from there.
***The other listings are new to me, I will DEFINITELY check them out!
Thank you so very much
I moved here from TX, & from FL prior to TX - so welcome!
I'm having a VERY difficult time fiding a Pain Dr her... So I'll keep you posted.. However, I will tell you who NOT to waste your time on, they'll NEVER give you meds:
1.Address: 1070 Old Des Peres Rd
NO Dr with their Anesthesiologist/Pain Practice/Organization
(they have 3 locations, that I know of):
2.Dr Stephen Smith/Midwest Pain Clinic
3.Dr Ramis Gherth - doesn't seem to exist, though listed (& wrong ph#)
I'm checking out 2 others.. Per response from my post - I'll let you know how it goes! I'd appreciate the same, if you happen to locate one, PLS!!!
***When will you be here, in St Louis?
For those in the St. Louis/Metro Area I may have some help. Greater St. Louis Pain Management. There is one Doctor, yes Doctor not a PA, and he is wonderful. He's a Christian man and will offer to say a prayer for you which is very comforting. I'm a young person in my late twenties, and have had a terrible time finding a compassionate, caring doctor. I feel so relieved that I found Dr. Chen. After a debilitating car accident 11 years ago I was forced into a life of chronic pain. I shattered my pelvis and required plates, screws, and fixation rods to get everything back together. The hardware irritates my hip joints and causes extreme nerve pain. So many doctors humiliated me and discounted my pain because of my age despite my treatment history. Thankfully that is all over now.
Here are some basic instructions to get the best care possible from Greater St. Louis Pain Management.
1. You must have an actual condition that causes pain with documents to back it up (mris, xrays)
2. You must get your medical records faxed from your previous doctor
3. You must have health insurance- he no longer accepts Medicaid (sorry)
4. Be honest about what medicines worked and what hasn't
5. Don't tell him what you want to take, take his suggestions at first and he'll be willing to take yours later on.
6. Take him up on the nerve block injections- they help
7. Act and dress well. Don't cry, demand or pout. Act like an adult, he'll understand.
8. You will have to do a U/A every month and sign a pain contract. Be smart and take your meds as prescribed. Call his office if there is a problem, don't wait till your next appointment.
My pain is more controlled now than it's ever been and despite the weather being cold I've never felt better. I hope this helped!
I know it's been awhile since your original post but did you ever find anyone? Or do you have a list of anyone else to avoid?
Re: Petra (# 5)
I'm looking for a pain management doctor myself in St Louis. I'm on Missouri medicaid mohealthnet. If anyone has any suggestions. I really need help. I moved here and need my meds and am willing to do injections whatever. Just please let me know who will help and who is rude and or to avoid the doctors here seem to be so rude and treat you so bad at times. Please and thanks ahead of time.
