UpdatedHow long should Concor R be taken? Is it advantageous to be on Concor R for a long period of time? Being a regular user of Concor R (2.5mg) at the age of 72, should I consult my physician before discontinuing treatment? Please give your considserate opinion.

The duration of treatment under any medication should be determined by the prescribing doctor. Thus, in my opinion, there is no right or wrong length of time in which Concor-R should be taken. Not only do we all respond to each medication differently, but we also may be prescribed the same types of meds for different reasons -some requiring longer treatment than others...
However, I do think it is important to consult your prescribing doctor before discontinuing treatment (especially if you have been taking Concor-R for any extended period of time). If withdrawal symptoms ever become a concern, at least you can fall back on your doctor's recommendations to help mitigate any negative side effects.
I hope this helps and wish you good health!
