UpdatedWhat are the long term effects of the brain and mood changes in people taking 30mg of oxycodone for years? Do they act with no emotion or feelings?

Hello, Brenda! How are you?
It is possible, opiates are known to cause depression of the central nervous system, so the can cause such issues as side effects, in some people that take them.
The FDA also warns that they carry the risk of being habit forming, and may cause other side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth.
Has the person in question exhibited any more symptoms?
Hi
I've been on Oxy for 4 years now and get it prescribed for chronic pain in lower back. The change in me as a person has been noticeable with my family and friends. I don't have any ump in me anymore. Feeling are gone in terms of enjoying life. My kids suffer aswell as I'm not as active as I should be..Im seriously trying to reduce dose and found it very difficult. Sitting in baths for hours helps . I'm just worried once I get to the level where i can stop and go thru 72 hours of hell as I've read I'm not going to succeed. It's so hard and the withdraws are so bad. I'm going to try and live with my pain once the meds are gone it's just so hard to see it happening anytime soon.
It's dumbed down my life and this has had a knock on effect..
Any advice would be great
Cheers p
Yes they are deadly! They work just talk to your doc
I truly can tell you that my Dr that I had made arrangements with to keep me on the same medication that I've been taken for the last 3 years. I was taking one ER and one IR. Went to my last appointment and he downsized the 15 mg to 10 mg and one extra of the ER in the late afternoon. It is not working for me and I'm new to this doctor and I don't know how to handle what I need to do. It does not work one bit and I am in so much pain I just want to die. Everything hurts I have RSD, very bad back problems, rheumatoid arthritis my feet feel like I've got nails on them. My Dr like I said is new for me so I don't know how to go about telling him that what he put me on is not working what so ever. I want to scream at him. I don't know why he did this he promised me if he took me on as a patient he promised me that he would keep me on my pain regimen that I've been on for the last 3 years. And now all of a sudden after three visits the third visit he changes my meds. Now I've gained 8 lb since I last saw him I have no energy I hurt I have to lay all the time on the couch or bed. That is no life whatsoever why even live it.
These are my true feelings right now and I don't know what to do with them. I have to drive over 200 miles just to see him because I live on the western part of Missouri. And the doctors here on the western part don't do anything for you if you're taken any kind of pain medicine that has opiates in it. Opiates are grown in the ground, God put them there for this reason for pain he knew that people were going to live in pain and get surgeries and have more pain. I just don't understand. I take my meds the way I am told to take them on the bottle. Even though I hurt and I cry and I hurt, then I cry more. Anyway, can anybody out there give me something to tell him, because my appointment's not for another 2 weeks. I don't think I can make it. I don't know what to say to him.
I will share my opinion. I had been on Morphine 2 60mg ER and 3 30mg IR. Due to Kidneys they stopped and put me on straight Oxycodone. 1st the dose was way short and pain went off the chart. It would be a book if I shared everything that this set in motion. My life has changed forever. I am back on Morphine ER with Oxycodone IR. I wish Doctors were 1/2 as smart as they think they are. I say that, but some fault is mine because I moved to different states for work and new Doctors do not know me and they can not just trust. I am working with a new one now because the last one moved across the state. Now having to try and break new Doctor in again.
The point I was going to make is Oxycodone is more dangerous than straight Morphine.
Kratom will help with the withdrawal, but read reviews first and watch some youtube videos. Get off the kratom as soon as possible also. I do not want to go on suboxone unless it is for less than a month. It is worse than oxycodone to get off. Yes, soon they will be talking about that epidemic. I no longer trust addiction doctors and you will have a hard if not impossible time getting oxycodone again when you need it. It is all a big pharma game. They will keep the risks of suboxone quiet for as long as possible. Kratom works. Get some anyway before they can it again, which they are trying to. Good luck.
