Long Term Effects Of Cardizem (Top voted first)
UpdatedHave been using cardizem for 7 years and would like to know if there are any long term side effects...I seem to be having some trouble cognitively and my great aunt who was on it ended up with dementia...was curious if there was any correlation between the brain and the drug. Also the buildup of fluid has been extensive even with watching the salt intake. Also taking daily ranexa, eliquis, lasix, spirivia, albuterol. Thank you for any input.

Since you're on several medications, it's hard to attribute your symptoms to any particular one with certainty.
What types of cognitive issues are you having?
As to the fluid build up, is the Lasix not helping with it?
The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, increased urination and dehydration.
How much fluid do you take in each day?
I am taking cardizem and all of a sudden my blood pressure has been high (165/102). I don’t seem to respond to medicine. I was taking 180mg and the doctor increased it to 240mgs but that isn’t working. My lips also swell sometimes.
