Lo Loestrin And Cramping

I have been on lo loestrin for 7 months now. I have loved it until this past week. I normally have no period, and never any cramping or spotting. Two days ago, I started cramping, and yesterday started spotting. Today when I woke up, the cramps feel worse than any period I've ever had. I am 90% perfect with taking my pills. Any day I forget I always take two the day after. Has this happened to anyone else? Is this normal?

If it helps ease some of your concern, "bleeding irregularities" are listed as one of the most common side effects associated with Lo Loestrin.

According to the patient prescribing information: "Unscheduled (breakthrough or intracyclic) bleeding and spotting sometimes occur in patients on COCs, especially during the first three months of use. If bleeding persists or occurs after previously regular cycles, check for causes such as pregnancy or malignancy. If pathology and pregnancy are excluded, bleeding irregularities may resolve over time or with a change to a different COC."
