I didn't notice I skipped a pill until it was my usual pill-taking time on Thursday and realized I was taking Wednesday's pill, which was the first of the two active white ones before the inert brown ones. Do I need to take two pills one day to make it up, or should I just continue like usual and ignore it? I wound up taking all of the 24 blue pills, just over the course of 25 days...Thanks! ## Hello, Lolabear! How are you? That long after, doubling up isn't going to do anything. That only works if you notice immediately, within 24 hours, or so. Missing one creates a small risk of getting pregnant, if you were engaging in intercourse at that time, so you do need to be aware o...
I am at the end of my first pack, the first weeks were fine and I didn't have spotting until a few days ago. I didn't wait for my period to start the pill, but I have been taking it everyday only off by at most 2 hours (once in a while). Yesterday I started bleeding heavier and now I'm bleeding pretty heavily and I just passed a huge clot. Has this happened to anyone else? Is this just my period? I took a white pill yesterday... ## Hello, Ren! How are you? Irregular bleeding can occur for the first 3 months or so of taking this, while your body is adjusting to the hormones in it. However, if it gets severely heavy or continues past a week, you should consult your doctor. Are there any other questions or concerns?
I am almost done with my first pack on Lo loestrin fe and 2 days ago I started spotting, no big deal. It seems to have gotten heavier and I have cramping (I'm still on the blue pills). Is this normal? I haven't skipped any, maybe I have taken it a 30 mins-2 hours later than I planned but that's it. Since I'm bleeding now and almost done with the pack should I maybe just skip to the white and brown pills and have my period and then start the new pack? I also have a wedding I'm going to on the 30th that I would like to not have my period during. I know that's a lot of questions, but I'm new to this medication! Thanks! ## Hello, Ren! How are you? Yes, that can be normal for the first 3 months, or so, while your body is adjusting to these oral contraceptives. No,...
Hello, I just started taking Lo Loestrin FE and would like to delay my period at the end of the month for a vacation I'm taking to the Caribbean. Do I just skip the last 4 pills (white & brown) on the pack and go straight to the blue pills on the new pack? ## Yes, as long as it's okay with your doctor, you'd just skip the lower dose pills, or placebo pills that would induce your menstrual cycle. Unless there are certain medical reasons that may make it unsafe for you to do so, it is normally okay to do it. You are new to taking, however, so there are no guarantees that you may not experience a cycle, or breakthrough bleeding, anyway. Is there anything else I can help with? ## This is my first month on lo loestrin. When should i expect my period? I just took my last brown...
Hi, My period is on 12 th of this may. I am getting married on the same day and so, I wanted to postpone it to 5th or 6th. Can you please suggest me some medications for that. I am realy worried about this ## Hi Kapra, You could always ask your doctor or gynecologist for an oral contraceptive. I know with certain one's (such as Lo Loestrin Fe, Sprintec, etc), if you take the different colored tablets in a specific way it's supposed to alter the timing of your menstrual cycle. As to the exact order of how that works, I'm not sure.. but your healthcare provider should be able to help determine that for you once you let them know about your intentions. I hope this helps!
Hi today is my 3rd day of period, and I m taking lo loestrene fe but it not reducing my period why?will it make my period low .because I m getting little heavy period, this is my first pack of b control pilll. ## Hello, Johri! How are you? How long have you been taking it? This needs to be taken every day throughout the month for it to possibly help with that. If you just started it and this is only your third tablet or first pack of pills, it is likely far too soon for it to have an effect. Has your doctor prescribed it for you? ## Yes doctor has prescribed me I m taking this from last two days. Today is my 4th day and I m getiing heavy bleed7ng plz tell why
This is my first time taking birth control and I'm on lo loestrin fe. I have one more blue pill for Saturday then on Sunday is my first white pill. ***When should I expect to get my period? ***This is my first pack, so I really don't know how my body will react to the white and brown pills or what to expect. ## Hello, Rachel! How are you? It can't give you a definite answer, but you should start about the 2nd day of taking those inactive tablets, so probably Monday, but this is just a guess. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I just saw your response so thank you for your help. & just to tell you how it went with mine... I actually never got my period.
Im having severe pms and problems during period. Irritability ..anxiety..cramps..loss of short term memory. With period feel psychologically unstable. My OBGYN suggested le loestrin fe but saw reviews of creating anxiety which I aready suffer from and other bad side effects. Has it helped anyone with severe pms without side effects? Ive heard acupuncture works great! Anyone tried that for hormonal problems? ## Most cases of PMS are caused by some type of hormonal imbalance and taking a hormonal contraceptive, such as this one, can help correct that to rectify the problem. Generally, the anxiety is caused when someone is adjusting to the hormones in them and only lasts for a brief period of time. You may not experience any from it, since your hormones are already out of whack. The only w...
My doctor til me to start taking the pills right when my period comes but I missed it twice! So I'm on my third day of my cycle so I started to take it is that okay? What should I do if not? ## Hello, Karla! How are you? If you start them on the first or second day of your period, then you are immediately protected against pregnancy. If you start them later than that, you'll need to take them for a full 7 days, before they will be effective, so you'd need to use a backup method of contraceptive for that week. Is there anything else I can help with?
My daughter had been taking Generesse Fe for a few years now and just started taking Lo Loestrin this past month. She took the white pills on this past Friday & Saturday, and the iron pills on Sunday & Monday - yesterday & the day before and has no sign for her period yet. She said it feels like she is going to get it but nothing yet and she starts her new pack tomorrow. Is this normal? She called her doctor and of course the first thing recommended was a birth control test. From what I have read this seems normal with this birth control med. But is it healthy not to have a period? ## Yes, that is very common with this contraceptive and no, it is not harmful to skip periods. They actually aren't necessary, unless you want to get pregnant. This will also not affect her fu...
I just started a new birth control two and half weeks ago. I have been on birth control before, started at 16, with some stomach pains for a couple days within the first month. That was on Lo Loestrin Fe, then I switched to the generic. Now moved out and getting my birth control on my own at 20, a new doctor gave me microgestin. (She was so insincere and wanted me out the door ASAP). For a few days I have felt nausea and severe stomach pain, only throwing up once. But it would go away after a few hours. Today things took a horrible turn. The pain was so unbearable from my abdomen I was in fetal position crying all day like a child, while my boyfriend tried to do everything he could to help. Not eating a meal in a couple days, I dry heaved twice and my body temperature would rise and fal...
I am 51 years old and I have been going through menapause for the last two years and having nite sweats they are getting worse. I also take a pill for high blood pressure and a thyroid pill every day. Is it safe for me to take lo loestrin fe 1-10 to help with the hot flashes. ## Hello, Bella! How are you? No, generally hormonal contraceptives aren't recommended for women over 40, due to the increased risk of them causing blood clots. However, there are other options that can help, such as the antidepressant Prozac, even at very low doses, it has been known to help prevent night sweats and hot flashes. Side effects to it may include nausea, drowsiness, dry mouth and weight loss. It somethings you may want to ask your doctor about. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thank you,...
Okay, so I started Lo Loestrin Fe about 3 months ago and I started on my 4th pack last week.. I have had a period at the same exact time for the 2 packs that I have had in the past (whenever i took the brown pills) but in the 3rd pack I started bleeding in the middle of my pack and it went on for about a week and a half.. After that I didn't start my period when it came time to take the brown pill. Me and my boyfriend have intercourse and it is usually with protection and sometimes we use the withdrawal method (he has never came inside).. Is this normal? ## Hello, Elsa! How are you? Yes, you can experience irregularities for the first 3 months, while your body is adjusting to hormonal contraceptives. However, if it continues, you should have things checked out to be sure, you may ne...
I started my pack on a Tuesday and now Im at the end of my pack on the second white pill and it's Saturday. I'd like to start my second pack on Sunday to avoid future confusion. Is it okay to skip the brown pills? I've heard they're iron pills but can cause extra spotting if missed. If so can I take the two brown pills with two blue pills this next Sunday and Monday? ## Hi Adriana! The best thing 2 do is take the pills as prescribed. I wouldn't go messing with the way u r suppose 2 take them. U don't want 2 take any chances. ## @Adriana, Regarding your question about skipping the brown pills - I don't know who manufactures your loestrin fe, but according to the patient prescribing info from Actavis, "if you were to 'forget' either of the 2 brown (...
Hi, I started taking lo loestrin on the first day of my period as instructed. Then, my period ended about two days after taking the first pill. It is very abnormal for me to have a period this short. Is this normal when you start taking this pill? I know it shortens your period after taking it for a while, but could it have really effected my cycle after only taking 2 pills? ## Hello, Sara! How are you? Yes, it is possible. The sudden elevation of hormones it can cause has been known to do that, once your body gets used to it, things should normalize. You may experience irregularities for about 3 months, or so. Is there anything else I can help with?
I've been on Lo Loestrin for 2 years. It's the only pill that controls my heavy periods. Recently, I stopped taking it (upon advice from dr.) After 3 months, still don't have a period. Not worried at this time, but was wondering about any long-term side effects (like infertility). Will certainly discuss with my GYN, but would like to read more on my own. Anyone aware of any studies that looked at Loestrin/Lo Loestrin and possible fertility complications associated with long term use? ## i have 2 baby girl my husband want a boy child he dont want to allow me for ligation or take birth control pill ineed a medicine for stop my ability to get pregnent any more please tell me the medicine name ## Hello, Kelly! How are you? Long-term use of hormonal contraceptives may increase th...
i've never been on birth control before, so i know nothing about how it works! i started lo loestrin on 7/6, the first day of my last cycle. just took my first white pill about an hour ago. when will my period come? during the 2 white pills? during the 2 brown pills? or when i start next month's blue pills? anyone else as confused as i am? to make matters worse, i'll be starting tri-sprintec next month. those pills are FOUR different colors!!! ## Hi Jan, I wouldn't worry. I imagine that your period will start the following month. However, if it doesn't come, don't be alarmed. Your body will need time to acclimate to the birth control and that might set things off course for a little while. Just keep taking your pills and be sure to ask your gynecologist what to e...
I had been taking lo loestrin Fe pills for almost 2 and a half months. During the third month of taking the pills I received my period 2 weeks early. I then had protected intercourse the following week and expected my period the next week and it never came. I then followed through with the pills and ended up missing my period for te month of April. I've taken 4 tests and took one this Wednesday at 7 weeks and they have all come out to be negative. For some reason I can't shake this feeling of being pregnant. My breasts are sore at certain times of the day and some days I have to pee like crazy then other days I do not. I also have a slight fever of 99 that I've had for the past week. I randomly get slight pains in my side and uterus area. Do you think I'm pregnant or is ...
I've been in lo loestrin fe for 5 months & for the last 2 and 1/2 weeks I've been spotting. I always take pill exactly when I have 2 & I haven't missed any pills. This forum and internet says this happens at beginning & after 3 months your body should b used to it & no spotting. Well it's been 5 months y am I spotting now??? ## It's hard to say for sure, it could be due to a hormonal fluctuation or these new just might not agree with your body. Are you on any other medications? Have you been under any stress? Have you had any sudden weight changes? How old are you? ## I take novolog and lantus., type 1 diabetes. No weight changes. Every1 has stress.
Question on the Lo Loestrin Fe packs. I am getting ready to start a pack and will begin on my first day of my period. I have a big vacation next month and want to avoid my period. Do I take all 24 blue and then skip the 2 white and 2 brown and start the next pack immediately or do I need to take the 2 white? ## Hi Lee, While I don't have an exact answer to all your questions, I seem to have come across a step by step process for delaying your periods while on birth control. The article explaining this process is linked below: livestrong.com/article/234609-delaying-your-period-with-birth-control I hope this helps! :) ## I've been on the birth control pill called Lo LoestrinFe . I've been on it for two weeks now and experienced break through bleeding my first week. I've no...
