I am supposed to take it at 04:00pm but sometimes I forget to take it so I take it an hour or two after four and sometimes I take it an hour or two before depending on my work schedule. Does this make me less protected? And also does my weight matter? Does it effect it's effectiveness? ## Your weight doesn't matter at all, as long as you are mortally obese. But I don't think you are, so You're good! :) and no a couple hours doesn't really matter. They just want you to take it at the same time to get into the habit of taking them everyday. :) ## Thank you very much! That was helpful
i recently had a baby back in june. when i finished the bleeding i started my first pack of lo loestrin. i am now on my 3rd and a half pack my periods started regulating to the 8th of every month. september 8th i got my period and september 23 i started bleeding again, light spotting every day just enough to wear a liner it is now the 30th and is still going on.. this hasnt happened the previous months. the first month i started it bled for over two weeks similar to everyone else's posts..is this normal and its a shame i cant even get checked due to losing my heath insurance. ## Hello, Nik! How are you? Congrats on the baby! :-) Spotting can happen, when you're taking oral contraceptives. They are hormonal based. Have you had your next cycle? Did the spotting stop? That's us...
I took one white pill in my pack of lo loestrin fe and then I lost the pack (it had 1 white pill and 2 brown pills left in it). I started a new pack the next day and since then I have been spotting and bleeding light red to brown blood on and off. I am on my third week of pills now and I am still bleeding on and off. I won't be bleeding half the day, but then it will start later on and then stop again. What do I do? Should I stop the pills and wait for a normal period and start a new pack, or should I continue taking them? ## Hello, Akita! How are you doing? Sorry about the problem that you're having. It might be due to the fact that you started new active pills right away. Those last pills in the pack actually have no active hormones in them, so really, you should have just not...
So, I'm considering taking Lo Loestrin FE and I'm very nervous about it. When will it start being effective when I first start taking it? I have a terrible fear of vomit so I'm wondering if it will make me vomit? Please help. ## It typically takes a week for this medication to reach its full level of effectiveness in your body to prevent pregnancy. Thus, you'd need to use a backup method of contraception until the 8th day. Unless you start it on the first day of your period, then it will be effective immediately. The FDA lists the typical side effects of oral contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, breakthrough bleeding and PMS-like symptoms. Thus yes, there is a risk it could make you vomit. Is there anything else I can help with?
I found this pill in my closet I'm trying to find out if it has been there for years and is out dated or if it is current and was left behind recently 3/17/2013 ## The round blue pill you're describing is identified as Lo loestrin FE (ethinyl estradiol 0.01 mg + norethindrone 1 mg). This is a type of oral contraceptive; birth control tablet. Manufacturer: Warner Chilcott Laboratories National Drug Code (NDC): 00430-0420 Inactive Ingredients: mannitol ferrous fumarate microcrystalline cellulose sodium starch glycolate type A potato FD&C Blue No. 1 magnesium stearate povidone alpha-tocopherol lactose monohydrate sucralose spearmint I hope this info helps! ## I just took 4 of them thinking they were Percs.am I in trouble being they are women's birth control and not mention ...
so I started lo loestrin fe 3 months ago. before starting I had never missed a period and they always came on the predicted days. When I started the pills, the first 2 packs I got my period on the white and brown pills like normal. Now, I ended my 3rd pack and still no period. This morning I started my first blue pill on the 4th pack. I am just slightly worried because I never got a period and something like this has never happened to me. I had intercourse but it was always protected. plus, I am very good about taking my pills at the exact same time each day. but once in the third month I took my pill like 4 hours late. also I have had a really odd sleeping schedule, could that throw things off? I feel like I could start at any moment. I have cramps down there that feel like period cram...
there are 2 white pills and 2 brown pills, after I finish those 4 pills do I start taking the blue pills again, or do I wait till sunday? I m on lamictal and doxycycline and my obgyn didn t tell me it can effect my birth control, but I read that specifically lamictal and antibiotics can effect bc? ## Hello, Bre! How are you? Yes, you would continue straight into another pack, even if it's not on a Sunday. The FDA lists the common side effects of oral contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, weight changes and PMS-like symptoms. Doxycycline can reduce the efficacy of oral contraceptives, so you should be using a backup method of contraception, while taking it. The typical side effects of this antibiotic may possibly include nausea, dizziness, he...
I've been on lo loestrin fe for two months. I've been on lamictal for about a year, doxycycline for acne, and I was on amoxicillin for my sinus infection. I take my birth control anywhere from 8am to 11am, sometimes a little later if I forget. I read that these medications can cancel out the protection of lo loestrin fe? My obgyn hasn't said anything to me and I feel like maybe she didn't read close enough. How important is the timing of taking birth control? Am I protected on the days where I'm supposed to not take the pill so I get my period? What are the chances of me being pregnant? I am sexually active and am 19. Please nobody criticize me.
UpdatedI have been on lo loestrin fe for 4 months and gained almost 30lbs. So I decided to stop taking it. I just stopped taking it for 4 weeks now. My fiancé and i are intimate and i know there's always a chance of getting pregnant when you have intercourse. But what are the chances of me being pregnant now? My breast are sore. Im still putting weight on. I want to eat all the time. I am moody. My fiancé thinks I'm pregnant but those are also side effects i read about others having. I am so confused. I took a pregnancy diagnostic last week and it was negative. I stopped taking the pill the first week in my new pack. I have a doctor's appt monday. But what are the odds? ## Have you had intercourse, without using some other form of protection, since you stopped taking it? ...
I have been on Lo loestrin Fe for about 4 years. In the last 2 months I have had breakthrough bleeding almost daily. I have skipped the last few empty pills intentionally. I have had unprotected sex with my boyfriend for several months, even sometimes when I was breakthrough bleeding. Is it possible that I am pregnant? I am stopping taking it today to see If I get a period since I have intentionally skipped it for probably the last 3 or 4 months.
UpdatedMy doctor put me on low dose hormones because he thinks i may be in peri menapause. . He told me to take both white pills at the end but that i dont need to take the brown ones. Im wondering if i should go on to the next pack whether i start my period or not. I believe they told me keep taking them ## Hello, Jojo! How are you? Unless your doctor specifics otherwise, what that means is that you just don't have to take any pills those days, since there are no active ingredients in them. You just wouldn't take any those days, then start a new pack after those days pass. And yes, you continue onto the new pack, whether you get your period, or not. The FDA lists the typical side effects of oral contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, breakthrou...
I lost my purse which had my birth control in it and so I took the corresponding dose from next months packet. Will the hormone levels be the same even though it is from a different package? Pill order number (color) are the same and I took it at the correct time. ## Susie q yes they are the same from month to month. ## Thank you Karen!
Hello, I just started Lo Loestrin Fe 11 days ago after coming off of an unsuccessful try with a copper IUD for less than a week. I started when I did not have my period, and waited until my seventh day (about 20 minutes after I took my seventh pill) to have protected sex. Since I started Lo Loestrin Fe, I've had some light cramping a few times during the day, nothing severe, and my breasts have been slightly tender. I know my chances of pregnancy are very low, considering we used condoms correctly and I have been very diligent with taking the pill at the same time every day. I had never had sex prior to the night where I took the seventh pill, so I'm thinking that my cramps and tenderness are just due to starting a hormonal BC for the first time. I was just wondering if the cram...
Rather than wait another month I started first pack of Lo Loestrin Fe 2 days after my period ended (started Sunday). Then I started spotting lightly 2 weeks later (very dark brown and very light). Then another week later I got my period which was this past Saturday. It's now Wednesday and the period is very heavy in the am and then almost goes away all day and then heavy again at night. Is this normal? I feel like it's going to go on forever. Normally my period is 3-4 days max and super heavy which is why I started Lo Loestrin. ## Hello, Kimber! How are you? Yes, according to the FDA, such breakthrough bleeding can be normal and may occur, off an on, for the first 3 months, after starting a new oral contraceptive. Other side effects are listed as possibly including nausea, dizzi...
I have had horrible side effects for three days. I'm nauseous, I've thrown up and I've cried all day everyday for three days now. Im very unhappy with myself and I find myself coming home and going straight to bed. I'm tired non stop and very emotional. The doctor called me today and Now I'm hysterically crying. She was very adamant about me remaining on it for the entire month. She practically told me she couldn't guarantee what would happen and how long my period would be if I just stopped and that I would start as soon as I quit taking it. She claims it's completely natural and pretty much acted like she got these calls all the time. I'm damned if I do and damned if I don't. If I continue taking it, it's just getting more and more into my syste...
I have been on this pill before and stopped because my doctor wanted to try something else. well they put me back on it and after a month and a half I stopped again because I was bleeding every other week and it was not spotting it was a 7 day period. When I did have sex I used a condom as well and always took my pill at the same time everyday well now I am on 2 weeks of no period/withdraw bleeding after stopping the pill on Day 15. I just could not take the anxiety and the non stop period! I read somewhere that it may take 30-60 days from stopping the pill to get my period back to normal but I am just so worried and I don't even know if a pregnancy test would be accurate since I had a period every other week the month of January. Thanks for any advice! (I have a follow up for chang...
Period started at 11pm Sunday. Started taking my pills at 7am Monday. I keep waking up after 7am and so i'm taking pills at 8:30a, 9:00a. I'm finally in week two now and I missed a pill yesterday. I realized it when I woke up and was bleeding. I took two this morning to make up for the missed blue pill. How do I change my time from 7am to like...12pm? And did I start too late to begin with? If this is my period beginning, do I continue taking the pills or throw this pack out? I'm so confused!! (first time BCer) ## I am very sorry about the confusion and am happy to help clear this up for you. If you started them on the first or second day of your period, then you started when you should have and are immediately protected against pregnancy, since they will prevent ovulation t...
I began taking Lo Loestrin Fe December 15th on the first day of my period. The first week, I took one pill about 4-5 hours late but continued my schedule as usual afterward. Then, I switched from taking it in the morning to taking it at night. The first 3 weeks I was on it, I had absolutely no side effects. The last day of my 3rd week, I started bleeding, cramping and getting bad back pain, which is completely normal for my periods. But, it was 4 days prior to taking the placebo pills. My GYN said it was breakthrough bleeding. However, I continued to bleed all week, through my placebo pills. The bleeding was lighter than normal but I still needed a tampon. I think it was my period coming early (which never happens), instead of breakthrough bleeding. The following week, I had all my typi...
UpdatedI'm really good at taking my blue pill everyday, I do not think I've missed a single one until today...very odd but I was making my bed today and I found a blue pill in my blankets??!!! I just started a new pack and I'm 5 days into it...my pills are always in my purse....so I have no idea what to do, do I take it? I have not had intercourse, so I'm not worried about that... What should I do? ## Hello, JennyB! How are you? Have you compared it to the pills in your pack to make sure it is one of the OCs? If you haven't had intercourse, missing one isn't a big deal, but you may experience some breakthrough bleeding or spotting. However, you should be aware that it would be best not to have unprotect intercourse for the first 7 days of making sure you continuously ta...
i started my first pack on the first day of my period on the 18th and though my period usually only lasts about 4 days, i've been lightly albeit consistently bleeding ever since. it's now 10 days later and i'm going nuts. my boyfriend is coming back from traveling for over a year next week and i'd really like to not be still spotting gross brown discharge when he gets here. will it stop or am i doomed to 3 months of this? ## Hello, Emz! How are you? Sorry about the problem that you're having. This doesn't mean that it will continue for all 3 months, but it is possible. Have you contacted your doctor? You might want to do so, just to be sure and to see what they say you should do. ## I started taking loloestrin 10 mcg on 12/1/14, had no bleeding for a week and the...
