I started this birth control on the Sunday after my period, with the first row of a brand new pack ... So will my period come if I take the brown and white pills next week? Isn't my period suppose to be on the 3rd blue row? I'm confused. I finished the 3rd blue row and it's like I have my period but it's dark dark brown ... What's going to happen when I take the brown and white ones next week .. Ahhh ## Hello, Kimmy! How are you? No, you will get your period the 4th week of the pack. The spotting that you're experiencing can be a normal side effect of taking oral contraceptives and usually takes about 3 months to wear off. You may also experience nausea, headache, irritability, weight gain and PMS like symptoms. If the bleeding continues, you may need to switch t...

I've been on lo loestrin fe for 3 months now and I've had a period at the begaining of the month for about 4 to 6 days then another after I take the last pill for 4 days has this happened to anyone else? ## Hello, Becca! How are you? That can be a normal side effect of taking hormonal contraceptives. The FDA lists the other typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and weight changes. If the bleeding lasts for longer than 4 months, you should consult your doctor as you may need to try a different oral contraceptive. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thank you so much this explains a lot the bleeding only lasts about 4 to 6 days and when I take the last pills it only last four

I was told to start Lo Loestrin Fe on the first day of my period however, the norm for me is light bleeding (mostly just when urinating and wiping but nothing on a pad) and then nothing for a day or two and then my full on period. Do I start taking it the very first time I start bleeding even though it is so light or wait until the day I have my normal, heavier bleeding? ## Hello, Maureen! How are you? The FDA states that it should be started at the first sign of bleeding. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability and weight changes. Is there anything else I can help with?

I took a month off of bc pills to give my body a chance to cleanse in a way. I have endometriosis so I need to be on bc pills continuously which means I'd skip the placebo pills and go right to the next pack. Jowever no where in the I instructions for lo estrin fe does it explain what the brown and white pills are. I heard the brown ones are reminder pills which makes no sense to me. Do they have hormones like the blue pills? And are thw white pills placebo? Or the brown ones?I need to skip all placebos so I am only taking the blue pills continuously. But I wanna make sure the brown onea arent improtant to take. Thanks! ## Hi amanda, According to the prescribing information on loloestrin.com, Lo Loestrin Fe consists of 28 tablets in the following order (3): - 24 blue tablets (active...

I am currently on Lo Loestrin Fe and I want to delay my period (in anticipation of going on a religious pilgrimage). My doctor started me on the pills 2 months early so that my body can adjust to them and I experienced spotting during the 2nd week of my first pack for 8 days and then everything seemed normal. However, when it came to the end of the pack, my doctor instructed my to take the white pills and skip only the brown pills and on the second day of the white pill (before starting on a new pack), I had light bleeding. When I travel for the pilgrimage in a month, I want to make sure NO bleeding happens whatsoever - does this mean that for the next pack, I should skip all the 4 white AND brown pills and start a new pack? ## Yes, you'd have to completely skip all the inactive tab...

Started my period on 11/2 and took the pill 11/3. Took it for a few days and then forgot for three days. Took 1 pill (all I had left) and then didn't take it for one day, now have my new prescription. Do I have to wait until I start my period again next month or can I begin a new pack today and just miss my period next month? ## The tablets you take the week of your period have no active ingredients, so missing them doesn't matter. As to the new pack, since you did miss at least one day of active tablets, you can start it at any time, unless your doctor instructs you not to, but you'll need to make sure to use back up protection against pregnancy for the first 7 days. Are there any other questions or concerns? ## Hi i forgot to take daphne pills last june 16 then we had a co...

I was on a different birth control that made me vomit every morning before I started lo loestrin Fe, give been on lo loestrin Fe for almost a full cycle but I have been bleeding almost constantly for two weeks at least, it's light brown bleeding but it hurts and I have cramps and constantly wearing a pad is expensive and pwinful. What can I do to stop the so called spotting? Should I switch types of birth control pills again? I don't know what to do!! ## Hello, Sally! How are you? That can be normal for about the first 3 months, or so, while your body is getting used to the hormones in an oral contraceptive. As listed by the U.S. FDA, you may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache and irritability. Whether or not you talk to your doctor about switching to a different one is...

I'm a little confued. I got my period on a Friday Jan 1, 2016 and started the pack on the first friday of the pack. Should i have done that or just started on the first sunday of the pack? I'm entering into the third week of the pack, therefore should I finish the blue pills of the first week before taking the white pills. Today is Jan 16, 2016 and I'm not scheduled to get my period unto Feb 1 or Jan 31. I think the answer is yes on the blue pills. I though the day yiu got your period and the day you take the blue pill had to match, but I don't think that is the case. Also, if get my period on a day I'm supposed to take the white or brown pills do I take the white or brown pill and a blue pill or just the first blue pill of the next pack? Let me know, please. Thanks....

I have been on this pill for 11 months now... since September 2014. My periods were irregular at first but started to become more regular. In the middle of June I missed 2 pills in a row. I took them both the next day however. I then started my period a week early right after I took those 2 pills late (I was camping with girls who were on their period, so I figured that's why I started early). Once I got off of my period, I had unprotected intercourse with my boyfriend. I have not missed a pill since those 2 in June but it is now time that I should be having my period if it is a normal 26-32 day cycle. I usually wouldn't start until the end of the month but last month I started in the middle. I am worried because I have been experiencing what could be pregnancy symptoms. I notic...

I started taking Lo loestrin fe on the first day of my period, but I also took an adovan that morning, I had a antibiotic shot a couple days earlier. I stopped all other medications after the first day of taking Lo. Am I still covered since I took it on day 1? ## Some antibiotics can alter the efficacy of oral contraceptives. Which antibiotic were you given? The FDA lists the typical side effects of oral contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, breakthrough bleeding and PMS-like symptoms. The Ativan wouldn't affect it.

I am on my 3rd pack/month. I am spotting/feeling very PMS during the second week and have been getting my period during the 3 week, well before the inative week. I am gaining weight. Since I have gotten my period I don't feel like there is any chance I am pregnant. Any help? ## Hello, Niki! How are you? I'm sorry about the issues you've been having. Irregular bleeding and PMS symptoms can be normal for the first 3 months, or so, while your body is getting used to the new hormonal balance from oral contraceptives. Things should settle down soon, unless your doctor feels there is reason for concern. If they continue, however, you may need to switch to a different OC, as these just might not be the right ones for you. The weight gain is also normal, most women gain about 10 pou...

A couple of weeks ago, I took my 1st white pill instead of last blue pill on accident. the week before this, I had a 3 day SUPER light period, almost spotting-like. I took the last blue pill the next day, and the last white pill the day after that. That same day, I started cramping and I bled for 7 days straight, and it looked like an actual normal period, not just spotting. I'm guessing this came about from taking the pills out of order. My "period" ended on Wednesday of last week. Just 2 days ago (Saturday), I started to have light spotting again when going to the bathroom. Doctor told me to use extra protection if my fiancé and I are active when this pill mix up happened, but we haven't even done anything at all since it has happened, I don't want a pregnancy...

Hello all, I am new to Lo Loestrin Fe, just started my first pack 5 days ago when I started spotting for my period. Typically I spot for two days then have extremely heavy bleeding for 3 or 4 days then spot for another 2. I had normal spotting the first day, light spotting the next and haven't had anything else yet. I'm finding it hard to believe that this pill can stop my period after only 3 days.. Now 5. I did take an at home pregnancy test and it came back negative. My boyfriend and I have only had intercourse once since my last period and we were careful, had no problems with the condom... So thoughts? Anyone else have this drug magically stop their periods first week taking it? ## Some women don't have periods, at all, while taking this contraceptive. It is hormonal bas...

I've been taking this pill for nearly 4 years and I've never had a problem until now. I am having my first ever breakthrough bleeding. I know a lot of people have them and I'm probably worried over nothing, but because it's never happened before it seems a bit out of the blue! It's super painful and I'm going through tampons every hour or so. It literally poured out at first. I bled during intercourse the last time as well, that was about a month ago. I'm not due for a checkup for 6 months and it's difficult to get appointments so I don't want to go for no reason... Any ideas? ## Hello, Biff! How are you doing? Has there been any change? You really need to go have this checked out. That severe bleeding is not normal breakthrough bleeding for oral cont...

Hey I've never been on birth control before, this is my first time. I started lo loestrin fe the first day of my period and it seems lighter than usual which my Gyno said is normal but tomorrow would be my third day on it. Could the birth control have taken effect by now to prevent me from getting pregnant, or is it too early because its only my 3rd day tomorrow? ## Hello, Jacklyn! How are you? Unless your doctor instructs otherwise, you should be immediately protected, if you started it the first or second day of your period. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, weight changes and spotting. If you want to be completely safe, you could wait a full 7 days, to be sure. Is there anything else I can help with?

I have been on lo loestrine fe for 7 weeks now. My first pack i did not have a period just some light spotting (4 times) in a 2 day period at the end of the pack. Now I am on my 2nd pack on my 4th week and due for my period this friday but have a feeling im not going to get my period again. I have been on this birth control before and I always had a full on period when the brown pills start. Could I be pregnant or is there something else going on? ## Hello, CourtneyC89! How are you doing? Well not getting your period and not thinking you'll get it are very different, so you do have to wait and see whether or not it starts. A very light spotty period can be normal, when you're taking hormonal contraceptives, even if you had normal ones in the past when taking it. Our bodies do ch...

If so, the manufacturer Warner Chilcott lists it as being one of the active tablets from the oral contraceptive packet Lo Loestrin FE. The FDA lists its typical side effect as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, spotting and irritability.

I'm 2 weeks in on this pill and I literally can cry at the drop of a hat. Even when I'm happy. Also my smells which are normally very heightened are 100 times worse. I gag constantly. Is this gonna calm down soon? I feel like an i**** in front of everyone all the time now :/ ## As reported by the FDA, side effects from oral contraceptives usually take about 3 months to go away, because it can take that long for your body to adjust to the hormonal changes. You may also experience dizziness, headache and spotting. However, as severe as your symptoms sound, this may not be the right one for you to take and you may need to speak to your doctor about trying a different OC. Is there anything else I can help with?

I am 36 and for the past year been struggling with VERY HEAVY bleeding and HUGE blood clots. In September of 2015 I missed my period and it finally came in October 2015 (I was 6 weeks late). On January 5th 2016 I contacted my doctor because I have not stopped bleeding since October. I am talking heavy bleeding non stop and experiencing blood clots sometimes about the size of a softball. My doctor suggested lo loestrin to help reset everything back on track. I began taking this pill the same day and noticed a HUGE difference I even stopped bleeding for 4 straight days ( something that was VERY welcoming after months of torturous bleeding) my daughter got sick and I missed 1 pill last week. The next morning I woke up and all the bleeding and blood clots started again. It's now been a ...

I took Lo Loestrin for about 4 months and had to stop when I finished the 4th pack. So when I stopped it was the beginning of last month. I got a period around this time last month, no issue. This month however, I did take a couple pills for a couple days, and have not gotten my period yet. I have had sex but never unprotected. Do you think I should be worried about pregnancy, or is this due to my going off the pill/taking a couple at the beginning of the month? ## Hi I am in the same position, but I have had unprotected sex since...........Not sure what is going on???? I normally come on a few days after stopping but this time nothing? ## Hi. I too have stopped the lo loestrine fe after two months. I was on Yaz prior to switching to lo loestrine fe for many years.
