Lo Loestrin Fe And Continuous Bleeding (Top voted first)

I started taking Lo Loestrin FE on Feb. 2nd and it is now Feb. 21st and I have been bleeding non-stop (literally all day, every day). Doctor says to wait it out for 3 months... 3 months of non-stop bleeding? I've heard of breakthrough bleeding but this crazy!

This is the best birth control out there because all that breakthrough bleeding really helps you to not get pregnant with all that intercourse you're not having.

bleeding nonstop on lo loestrin! I was on it about 4 yrs after myomectomy it was a godsend, light or no period. I started spotting for about 3 months in a row. Doctor said it was due to a cyst and would dissolve. I went off pill for a month as I had unrelated surgery and went back on loloestrin expecting the same results from the previous four years. Month 3 still bleeding midmonth only heavier, periods are heavier and longer and more clots. HELP! Do I switch? go off the pill? , is it fibroids? Is it cysts?, is it hormones Readjusting? Is it something worse? No real answers from the gyn except wait it out til menopause and wear hormone patches that haven't helped , I just can't stand having no dating/social life and forget exercise. Anyone experience this ? AND did it ever stop? If so, when or what did you do to stop it? I have a truck load of feminine products I'd gladly donate to anyone that needs them that can help.

Hey ladies.
I'm on lo loestrin I'm at the end of my second pack so I've been on it for pretty much 2 months now. I've had SIX periods since I started taking them. I'll have bleeding for 5 to 6 days then it stops and comes back... I don't think this is normal. Also I have worse mood swings. My boons hurt no stop they're so sore and I have leg cramps. My period cramps are so much worse to. My doctor put me on it for pcos... but I can't handle all this. Anyone else have thus problem?

OMG, whomever posted right above me 7/2/2011 has me freaked out because this morning 7/2/2011 I experienced the worst red river bleeding in 30years. I'm 42 and I've been off BCP for about 3.5 years but I asked for a "mild" one just to alleviate mood swings and clear up my skins. I got my period last Sat 6/25 very slightly so I began my 1st Lo Loestrin pack the next day 6/26. I've been bleeding ever since and it's getting heavier and heavier by the day. Bright red for 4 days with no relief in sight. I went from using Reg Tampax last Sat to rushing out for SuperPlus today and still their getting used up. I HATE this BCP. CAN I STOP IT IMMEDIATELY? WILL THE BLEEDING STOP IF I STOP TAKING LO LOESTRIN? I'm not about to wait out a month of straight bleeding.

I went on this two weeks ago and havn't stopped bleeding either. I am so annoyed because I got it so i could be protected during sex and now i'm bleeding so its gross if i'm having sex. This is just annoying. I literally have not gone a day without bleeding!!!!!

I *HATE* this pill. I'm 43 years old and have not been on BC for a decade. Have been taking this pill for four months now. Just quit 3 weeks into my fourth pill pack. Have had headaches nearly every single night for four months. Have had the most irregular periods of my entire life. Last time my periods were that irregular was back in junior high when I first started menstruating. My period used to be like clockwork. On this pill, it is a total crapshoot. I had spotting two weeks in on the first pill pack, then no regular period that month or the following month - just spotting at totally inopportune and odd times - not just two weeks in of each pill pack. More like random spotting for a day at odd times - never went more than seven days without a random day of spotting. Had to wear pantyliners practically the entire last four months as I was never sure what might be going on. And, the breast tenderness was hardly normal cyclical breast tenderness. It was more like holy crap what massive knife just stabbed me? Done. Had a 36 hour headache that no amount of ibuprofen could cure and threw the rest of the pills away - probably hundreds of dollars worth. This stuff should not be on the market.

It is a relief to see others have had the same experience. This pill is ruining my libido and it's been the worst month I've physically had in years. Did your symptoms subside eventually?

Also 7/2/2011.... I'm 42, 2 kids, off BCP for about 3.5 yrs and I wanted to start a "mild" one to allevieate mood swings and clear up my skin. Never had terrible period problems or heavy periods, not even the years I was off BCP. I was prescribed Lo Loestrin FE, got the very beginnings of my period last Sat 6/25 so I started the pack the next day 6/26. I've been bleeding ever since and each day it's getting heavier. By this morning, it was so heavy and bright red w/ clots I went thru 3 reg Tampax in less than a hour. Never ever have I ever had to use super plus but I am today. It's getting heavier each day with no sign of stopping. I hate this BCP. CAN I STOP IT IMMEDIATELY?? Will the bleeding stop if I stop taking the active pills ?

Hello! So I was put on this hormone pill (lo loestrin fe) because I had consistent heavy bleeding for a month, once I took the pill my pd. stopped and my doctor told me after I finished the hormone pill & started taking the b/c on the following sunday and I will start my cycle again and then it should be regular/no period. Well....I started taking the b/c pill and I had little cramping, severe bloating but no bleeding, but as I started taking the pill I have heavy bleeding and bad cramping and I just don't won't to take this anymore...I was fine before this random bleeding but it's been a long time since I've been curled up in the bed crying! Is this normal? Should I continue to take this? Every birth control I've been on never worked for me physically...

Same thing is happening to me I called my doctor and they said your body needs to get use to it but I prefer to go back to my heavy cycle for 5 days then this crazy mess

Okay, so I posted my first initial experience with this pill which was approx. 2 months ago. I had the horrible bleeding and cramping continuous nightmare you all have described. However, I have to say after two weeks the bleeding finally stopped. So, as end of month one on this pill approached...I was super paranoid I might have a repeat of the first unbearable bleeding experience. I went out and bought 3 boxes of super plus tampons and pads for back up. HAPPY TO REPORT: my 2nd period was so much better. Very light, no cramps. I am hoping next month I wont even have a period at all!! I can see that totally being possible as light as the 2nd period was. I strongly advise staying on this pill for the Doctor suggested 3 months. It is a horrible start no doubt! But I think the pay off is gonna be worth it!!

I'm having the same problem. Been on lo loestein feel since the first day of my period. I'm aking them exactly right. I've been bleeding for 14 days straight. Started out as spotting and light bleeding but the past 4 days are extremely heavy & clotty. I have to sleep on towels because I soak through my clothes. Horrible period cramps. The past few days the nausea has turned to constant watery diarrhea. I'm so fed up with this pill but my husband, mom and doctor says my body just has to get used to it and to wait three months. If this doesn't let up i'm afraid i will end up in the hospital! I dont understand how this bc pill is even on the market. It is making my life so miserable. I'm stuck on the couch just so sick. My hopes were high.for this.med because it was supposed my make my cycles less heavy. I'm continuing to take them and just hope my dr knows what she is doing. Feels like my life.has just stopped since.starting this med.

Ladies you have no idea how relieved I am that I found this forum. I am 24 and just started it after my period in January and have been bleeding since. I can’t stop bleeding. I started to think I might have been pregnant and that honestly would be the worst case scenario for my particular situation. Its devastating that so many people are having problems on this, but relieving as well that I’m not alone here. What do I need to do to stop the bleeding

okay so i started lo loestrin fe about 3 weeks ago and it is my first birth control pill. i got my period during thesecond row of pills and now i am in my third week of pills and i am getting light pinkish/red/brown spotting. i am worried because i had sex (protected with a condom) during the first week of pills and got my period the day after. is this normal? is this implantation bleeding or breakthrough bleeding? HELP!!

LADIES...STOP TAKING THE PILLS IMMEDIATELY!!! I bled for 16 days straight, the bleeding stopped as soon as I stopped the pills, I am now on Levora, my periods are regular, my ovarian pain has disappeared, I'm doing great!

I started Lo Loestrin Fe 3 months ago. The doctor wanted me to stick it out for 3 months, so I did! But I can't take anymore of this! I have been cramping horribly every day since starting it. Not to mention bleeding constantly as well. The cramping starts about a half hour to 2 hours (anywhere in that range) after I take my pill in the morning. This pill has made me depressed, killed my libido, and made me feel tired (partially from the constant blood loss). I am sick of this pill and SO glad to be changing.
By the way, no pre-menopausal or anything here. I am 17. This pill was prescribed to REGULATE my periods, not make me bleed and cramp constantly. I DO NOT recommend this pill to anyone!

I started taking this pill two weeks ago and have been bleeding everday, all day also. The first 10 days were so heavy that blood would run down my legs and onto the bathroom floor before I could make it onto the toilet. I have also had horrible cramps. I only usually have two days of mild cramping with my period prior to taking this pill. I am hoping it will get better because I've heard if you make it through 3 months you may not have a period at all. But this is getting to be ridiculous.

Hi Ladies, I am on my 4th pack of lo loestrine fe and I had my monthly then started back on the regular pills 2 days into the 4th pack I started bleeding. I'm guessing break through? I'm about ready for my next monthly cycle but I am still bleeding going on like 30 days. Any Suggestions?
