I have had different side effects that come and go during the entire time (dizziness, lightheaded, nausea, flushing, hot hands and feet, then tingling). About two weeks ago I had a lot of flushing, but my blood pressure was fine. In fact twice it dropped down too low, 80/53 then went right back up. One day my heart starts racing and fluttering. I think it's a panic attack, ignoring it, and long story short was admitted to the hospital with a new diagnosis of Afib with RVR. They finally helped convert me back to a sinus rhythm overnight. I'm now put on metoprolol, eliquis and am to continue taking my 10mg of lisinopril... During the next two weeks I see a cardiologist and tell him that I'm constantly anxious, always feel like I...
Hello, a few days ago I went to the ER because my BP was extremely high, 208/110. I believe this because I have gained about 30 lbs and have not been eating very healthy lately. I am 39 years old and I was not currently on any blood pressure medication but I have been in the past. I was off about a year. The ER was able to get my BP down and the Dr. gave me a prescription for Lisinopril HCTz 20/12.5 I have been on this in the past but a lower dosage. I have only been on this meds for 2 days and it does lower my BP but it is too low. This morning it was 108/77. I feel very weak with no energy, sleepy, and somewhat depressed. I am worried it is lowering my blood pressure too much and I'm scared I will have hypotension. Can I stop taking this med since it's only been a couple of da...
I am currently taking Lisinopril 10MG and my arthritis has really been acting up. I use to take Meloxicam 15mg but doing some reading it suggests the two are not good to take in combination... Any suggestions? Been taking Ibuprofen 800 but this is just a temp fix as the pain is still in my knees and feet. ## Hi fazer, Sorry to hear about your challenges with arthritis. I also looked up the drug interaction you're referring to between Lisinopril + Meloxicam and would agree that unless you're under frequent medical supervision, it's probably wise to not risk it. The University of Maryland Medical Center (drug interaction tool / umm.edu) describes this drug combination as causing blood pressure or kidney problems. On the other hand, they also go on to state that, "If you ar...
Can I cut a 40 mg tablet of lisinopril in half in order to take two 20 mg instead? ## It is safe to do this with any medication that is not time released. Is there some reason, however, that you need to take a lower dosage? Lisinopril is an ACE inhibitor that is used to treat high blood pressure and other cardiac conditions. If you have one of these conditions, it is very important that you take the proper dosage to keep them under control, so you shouldn't make any medication dosage adjustments, without checking with your doctor. In addition, if you have been taking 40mgs and suddenly lower the dosage to 20mgs, you need to be aware that there will be rebound effects, which can include elevated blood pressure and elevated heart rate. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Can I ...
Can I stop Amlodipine while I also take Metoprolol and Lisinopril? The Amlodipine makes me feel cold and shivering quite often. Thank you. ## Doctor prescribed lisinopril and metoprolol to me and I didn't like how the lisinopril made me feel so I stoped taking it, can that make me sick, I've only been taking the metoprolo ## Amir, are you sure those side effects are due to the Amlodipine? The others can also cause such symptoms, according to NIH reports, they could also be completely unrelated to any of the medications. Sam, I'm sorry, but your complete sentence did not post. How was it making you feel? The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension.
I've been prescribed lisinopril 10mg for hypertension but I'm reluctant to start taking it. I've read the side effects and lots of things are worrying me. Will I become too hypotensive after the first dose? Will I still wake up the next morning? Will I constantly experience dizziness? Can I drink alcohol? Will I end up with kidney failure? Will I develop a cough? Are there alternatives? ## There are risks to taking any medication, however, it is a much greater risk to let your hypertension continue uncontrolled, because it is guaranteed to cause serious health problems and possibly death. Lisinopril works well for many people, with no serious side effects and there are always others, like myself, that are sensitive to it and experience bad side effects and must switch to som...
I accidentally took my husband's blood pressure medicine which is 10 mg and mine is 2.5 mg. What should I do? ## Hello, Tae! How are you? Did you experience any adverse effects? It depends on which medication you are taking. He may be taking 10mgs, but if it's a different one that yours, the 2.5 could be equivalent to it. Typically, however, if you take too much your blood pressure may go lower than usual, according to FDA reports, and you may experience nausea, dizziness, several drowsiness and shallow breathing. If they get too severe, you should seek emergency medical attention. What are you each prescribed? ## I accidentally took two of my husbands 10 mg of lisinopril and had already taken an ambien will I be ok?
I took a pill lisinopril then took a sulfanethoxazole and an ibuprofen that is white and says I8 on it. I passed out and dont rememenber is that normal if you mix them thee drugs together for that to happen? Just worried me ## The relevant question is, did you actually pass out, or did you just get drowsy, lay down and go to sleep? If it is the former, then you should refrain from mixing them in the future, until you consult your doctor. If it was the latter, then getting drowsy and falling asleep from the combo is possible, because they can all cause drowsiness, as a side effect. ## I got prescribed smz/tmp. I do take lisinoprial for high blood pressure. I took one of each pill today should I be concerned ?
This is a Lisinopril 10mg tablet. Small pink oval shaped pill. It looks like a G in a certain light, but I assure you it is an E. ## That is correct, though many people think it is a stylized G. This tablet is manufactured by Sandoz Pharmaceuticals. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. It is most commonly used to treat high blood pressure and some cardiac conditions. Is there anything I can help with?
I have been taking Lisiniprol 10 mg 1 tab per day for the past 4 yrs and BP has been quite normal, so yes it does work. Like any other drug watch closely and see your doctor if you notice any harsh side effects. I would say for me yes I do get the cough on and off, dry tickle, cough, cough. It's annoying but I don't know if it's enough to stop taking it as it seems to be working well otherwise. I do however worry about the long term use (if it's OK) and if I were to stop I have read that it's not a good idea to stop cold turkey, any suggestions of how to stop, perhaps I should consult with Doctor?? P.S. I am over 50 ## You shouldn't stop, without your doctor's approval, because while your blood pressure may be normal now, the medication may be the only thing ...
Have been taking lisinopril, 1st was 10mg, then increased to 20Mg, and last year decreased to 10mg. Mid last year diagnosed with Lymphoma stage 3, and began chemo rchop, through out treatment I felt weak, and 3 months after treatment still weak, dr said ok, but it got worse, could hardly stand up. About 4-5 months ago, I took some turmeric, ginger tea (seen in Dr Oz) and 2 days later developed heaviness in left leg and the numbness I had got worse. Then recently, increased Vitamin D3 from 1000 to 2000 per Dr advice and are getting dizzy constantly. I checked internet, so I stopped both immediately about 2 weeks ago. I want to go back with vitamin D3 1,000 but I still have dizziness and the leg heaviness which had gotten better a few weeks ago, is back on again. Should I discontinue for ...
I found this pill in my step daughter's room and I want to know what I'm dealing with? ## This tablet is manufactured by Lupin Pharmaceuticals and they list it as containing 5mgs of Lisinopril, which is most commonly used to treat high blood pressure, and certain cardiac conditions. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. Is there anything else I can help with?
I have some pills that I think are Lisinopril, but I'm not sure. Something spilled on the label and it has faded away. They are yellow and plain on one side and have a line for splitting across the middle on the other side. That is not much to go by. ## A Lisinopril tablet that is available to be prescribed in the U.S. would have some type of imprint on it, they are all required, by law, to have imprints to enable their identification. If it has no imprint, whatsoever, then the likelihood is greatest that it is something that's available over the counter. Do you have any idea of approximately how old they are? ## I figured that my brother put an antihistamine in one of my older bottles. It is an otc. ## I GET MY A CRIPTS FRM V.A. I received a new prescription for lisinopril 10mg. The bottle said Lisinopril 10 mg tablet lup previously and was a small round pink tablet. The new prescirption does not say lup after tablet and is an oval pink pill with #101 on it. Is this the same medicine. My pharmacist did not mention anythiing to me about it. ## The reason it doesn't say LUP after the pill is because that is the abbreviation for the manufacturer and your new tablet is made by a different company. It is, however, the same medication and the same dosage. Lisinopril is used to help lower blood pressure. Common side effects may include: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and headache. read more: Is there anything else I can help you with? ## I've taken 10 mg Lisinopril from Lupin for 15 years. Today, I opened the b...
Is lisinopril 20-12.5 much different than the 20 mg? If not, I can get the 20 mg for free at the drug store, but I have to pay for the 20-12.5. ## Yes, the active ingredients are different. One contains Lisinopril with Hydrochlorothiazide, while the other just contains Lisinopril and you should take the one your doctor feels is best for you. The FDA lists the typical side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, dehydration, and hypotension. Which one has been prescribed for you?
I recently started taking Lisinopril 2.5mg about 2 weeks ago at bedtime. It was decided because I am so sensitive to medications to start on the lowest dose. It was suggested at this time because in the morning it is quite high. However, it is still high (this morning it was 155/95 and has been higher) but then it goes down throughout the morning and day. Why? Also, I've noticed that my mouth during the night is very, very dry and I wake up about 3 times per night to take a sip of water. Could this be causing the reading? Also, does it just take more time to begin to show a lowering of BP, especially in the morning? ## It may take 4 to 5 weeks for this medication to reach its full level of efficacy in your body to see how well it will work for you. The FDA lists the typical side eff...
I take 40mg of lisinopril a day. My blood pressure spikes at night. Can I take another 20mg? ## Hello, Lisa! How are you? It really depends on when and why you are experiencing a spike, according to NIH prescribing standards. What levels have the spikes reached? Has this been before or after dinner? Before, or after activity? There are many other factors at play, which may cause higher levels than usual. For example, as a HBP patient myself, I can tell you that I learned via my cardiologist that it can be normal to experience spikes when I first wake up in the morning, or after a nap, it is nothing to worry about. You may also experience spikes after activity, such as a brisk walk, working out, or engaging in intercourse. Such instances are also normal. It would be best not to increase ...

Are there food restrictions such as grapefruit when taking lisinopril? ## can eating grapefruit or juice react with this drug? ## I have checked several sources and there is nothing listed about there being a problem combining the two. ## I'm confused, I've read several different things about drug interactions with lisinopril. My concern is dieutics, and possassium. Can you still take them when taking Lisinopril? ## I worked in health care for years & was never told of an interaction. My husband LOVES grapefruit but has started taking Lisinopril & had severe pains, shortness of breath, & spikeing blood pressure, sweating & vomiting. We had to rush him to the urgent care center near his work when he had an episode & they gave him 2 nitro pills under his tongue...
I have been taking lisinopril for several years. My friend was prescribed the same dosage but is no longer taking it. She has some pills left from her period of using it. How long is it good after it has been purchased? ## In a bottle as dispensed from a pharmacy they are good for one year from when she received them. After that, they begin to lose efficacy. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. Are you on any other medications?
