Lisinopril 60 Mg - Is It Better Than 40?

My systolic BP is sometimes, 160, 150, 140. My diastolic is fine. My Dr. wants to increase the lisinopril to 60 mg (taking one of 40 and one of 20). I read that taking 80mg of lisinopril is no better than taking 40 mg, so my question is how 60 mg of lisinopril is going to help, if 80 or 40 have the same effect?

Yes, the maximum daily dosage is 40mgs, it's not been found to have any benefit over that dosage.

Have you discussed this with your doctor? There are other medications you can try that may give you better BP control.

I was taking 40 mg lisinopril and my BP was still very high. Approx 200/90 at night. Dr upped lisinopril to 40 mg in the morning and 20 mg more in the afternoon. Now my BP is about 105/50 in the morning and about 150/85 in the evening. I'm feeling shaky all day.
