My doctor recently prescribed Lipitor for me. I took 2 pills and had such a bad reaction I stopped it at once. I felt so spaced out that things did not appear normal. I can remember small things, like hearing my daughters voice but did not know what she said. Seems like some loss of memory and functions. I remember my son driving home but felt like we were lost and he did not know where he was going. Did not recognize places or landmarks. Has anyone else had side effects like this. It is scary and would like to know how long it lasts?

No, those are definitely not normal side effects. As listed by the FDA, the typical ones include nausea, drowsiness, dizziness, headache and joint/muscle aches.
Have you contacted your doctor? There are other medications that you can try, such as Zocor. Its typical side effects are very similar.
