Libertrim Sdp And Side Affects

I'm in Mexico with my 6 yr old and we had to go to the ER due to belly pains. She had major large intestine blockage and the start of strep throat. They gave her libertrim sdp. Ive had to do two enemas that seemed to work, but she has not had a bowel movement on her own despite being on this drug two days. Additionally, I can't seem to find the Sadie affects of this drug as all are written in spanish. She has had a fever for a few days and I'm curious if that is a side affect.

An actual intestinal blockage would have required hospitalization and surgery, so I'm assuming she was just extremely constipated?

First, if you've done enemas that clean out her bowels, she is not going to have a normal bowel movement until a day, or two passes after, simply due to the fact that they clean out the bowels.

As to this medication, it is not intended to induce bowel movements. It contains Simethicone and Trimebutine, so it's used to help prevent gas and to treat conditions such as IBS.

Side effects may include: nausea, stomach pain and intestinal cramping.

Have you tried taking her to a regular pediatrician?

Thank you for this post as it was very timely since we couldn't understand why she had not gone to the bathroom on her own, so this explains it. We will have her at her Dr on Thursday when we return to the US. Thanks again!
