Lexapro To Celexa

I'd been on 10 mg. Lexipro for about 3 years and felt great. But then my doctor switched me over to generic Celexa because the clinic where I get my meds no longer has Lexipro available (Forest Pharmaceuticals no longer supplies it due to costs). Since switching to Celexa, I feel awful - nervous, uptight, and obsessive. I want to try generic Lexapro because I can afford it, but I hear it's not as good as the name brand. Anyone had any luck with it?

Hello,

When it comes to generic medications it is permitted by the FDA to be allowed to contain as much as 20% more or less of the actual active ingredient as well.

For some people, these so-called subtle differences are the equivalent of taking a completely different medication that may be absorbed and metabolized differently within your body (ranging from: side effects, allergic reactions, increased or decreased potency, etc). You may not have any issues with the generic Lexapro (Escitalopram), but you will only know if you try it yourself.

I unwittingly accepted my pharmacy dispensing Mylan brand generic for Lexapro when my md did not indicate dispense as written. I didn't think there would be such a difference in effectiveness, or in the case of this generic lack of effectiveness. After several months of feeling depressed, no energy, and basically blah I went online to see if others were having similar problems. This particular generic doesn't come close in my experience with Lexapro.

It's not been on it for 9years . The real Lexapro is time released and the generic is not an hits you like a ton of bricks. I can't take generic . I just found out that Lexapro has caused my heRing loss. Gotta get off it. Good luck

I cannot take generic Lexapro . It is not time released and hits you at once. Not good , but the real Lexapro is great. I take it at night .
