Levothyroxine Breast Tenderness

I had a total thyroidectomy and 10 lymphnodes removed due to papillary carcinoma in october 2012. I started a higher dose of levothyroxine (150mcg) a week ago. I'm having a myriad of the "less common" symptoms that I'm hoping will go away as my body acclimates. The most annoying is I have extreme breast tenderness and swelling. It is to the point where it hurts to be hugged and no bras I have fit. Is that normal and should I expect it to dissipate as I acclimate?

Hi Leah,

In time, your body should acclimate to the medication and the symptoms should go away. However, since your pain seems to be more severe, I would definitely speak with your doctor if it persists or becomes totally unbearable.
