Hi, my son is 8 yrs old and he had a seizure attack 2 times (in Jan 2015 and Nov 2016) and he is taking Levipil 500 mg, but before his second attack he had taken 250 mg, then the doctor increased it to 500mg. Could you please tell me how long this medicine should be taken for or when it should be stopped? It's been almost 2 years so far.

If he has epilepsy, he may need to take this medication, or another one for the rest of his life to help prevent dangerous seizures. There is nothing wrong with it, so he should take it, as long as his doctor deems it safe for him to do so.
The NIH lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, mood swings, and weight gain.
Is he on any other medications?
