Prescribed in addition to Aprovel to reduce increased BP. After second tablet, itchy rash over arms, legs and abdomen, throat constriction, nausea, swellings, small ulcers on lips and tongue, agitation. I am not familiar with any of these symptoms and have never suffered from psoriasis in past. Phoned GP who advised to discontinue at once and given appointment next week. Have taken antihistamine as recommended. Three days later, still have rash, ulceration, and throat constriction. ## Rash is slowly fading, and pain on swallowing took 10 days to resolve. Felt unbelievably tired. ## I am so sorry! It definitely sounds like you experienced an allergic reaction and it's good that you called your doctor and stopped the medication immediately, because they tend to worsen with repeated ex...
10 REPLIES UpdatedHello - I take Atenolol 50 mgms and have been prescribed Lercanidipine 20 mgms since January 2017, as my BP was high. It has stabilised well -current BP 118/62 this morning. However my ankles in the last week have been really oedematous and wonder whether the Lercanidipine is the cause of it? I use a wedge in bed to elevate legs above heart at nighttime. The warmer weather has made them worse. I also feel really tired all the time. Can you advise please? ## Yes, the FDA does list edema as being a possible side effect of Lercanidipine, along with nausea, dizziness, headache, and fatigue. Ref: Lercanidipine Information Have you consulted your doctor? In most cases, this doesn't go away, and a person has to switch to a different medication.
1 REPLY UpdatedI have just been prescribed Lercanidipine and Candesartan for my BP and was told not to take Ramapril anymore because of a cough I have had for about 3 months reading the side effects on both of these medicines it says a cough is likely is this true as I want to get rid of my cough and not prolong it. I have had a CT scan and the hospital have put it down to the Ramapril I was taking. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you. ## The Ramipril cough is dreadful. I was fine on 2.5mg as soon as dose was increased I felt as if my throat was closing off and I developed a cough like Gollum!! As a nurse I knew exactly what was causing it and returned to doc and requested a change. The cough disappeared very quickly. ## The dry cough can be a side effect of most blood pressure and heart medica...
5 REPLIES UpdatedI am experiencing lower back pain since starting this drug, similar to period pain. No longer menstruate so it can't be that. ## Lercanidipine is a calcium channel blocker and yes, this class of medications has been known to cause back pain, joint pain, headache, hypotension, increased urination, and dehydration in some people that take it. 1 REPLY UpdatedIam taking Lercanidipine 10mg. Have been on it three weeks, however every day for the last twelve days ive devloped a nasty headache around 3.30 in the afternoons, it can last upto 3 or 4 hours, sometimes i have to go to bed. I also take one Bendroflumethazide 2.5mg daily. Ive tried lots of hp drugs but had to change them because of severe itching,i dispair of finding a medication that works, i fully understand there may be side effects but nothing lowers my blood pressure. I am thinking of stopping them for a week to see how things go. i would normally speak with my Dr. first but am going away for four days tomorrow, just going to have a complete rest away from pressures at home. I thank you in advance for any help you can give me. Best wishes to all suffers. ## Hello Barbara! How are ...
6 REPLIES UpdatedI was prescribed 10 mg Lercanidipine about three weeks ago for high blood pressure. Experiencing two types of chest discomfort, one is my heart pounding in my chest usually accompanied by flushing. This usually passes in a couple of minutes. The second is chest pain when moving about sometimes. This passes in a few minutes upon resting. I also suffer from anxiety and this is definitely not helping!!! I try to stay calm but am beginning to worry about doing anything! If this is just a side effect and will pass then that's OK and I will persevere. Can anyone put my mind at rest please? Also excessive toilet trips! ## Hello, Sam! How are you? Palpitations and flushing can be normal side effects of this medication, as reported by the FDA. As to the chest pain, however, that is something...
2 REPLIES UpdatedThe itching started a few weeks after starting the treatment and became more noticeable with time. I have stopped the tablets and have taken an anti-histamine, which seems to help. The low blood pressure (76/59) issue following my regular runs (4 miles) may not be directly attributable to Lercanidipine (10mg) because I also take Losartan (50mg). I have tried other BP meds - all with side effects, including one that produced swollen ankles with small pink spots. Any observations on either or both side effects would be welcome. ## How are you doing, now? Has there been any change? In many cases, the itching is due to changes in your circulation from taking the medications. However, only a physician can diagnose that definitively. Losartan is well known to cause low blood pressure after ac...
4 REPLIES UpdatedI recently start using Lercanidipine to reduce the diastol pressure and this product is for that effectivness. But I realized at least two or three side effects, A reduction in erectile power and a very frequent production of gas to the point that I would like to change this product for another one. I also note muscular pains in calfs and feeling of tiredness in legs. ## did you change your medication and what did you change to and did it work. ## Hello, Stan! How are you? Those can all be common side effects of this medication, as listed by the FDA. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination and dry mouth. However, side effects typically taper off in severity, as your body gets used to the medication and then eventually go away entirely. Generally, if they...
3 REPLIES UpdatedSince starting on Lercanidipine for blood pressure I've been suffering from aches and pains especially in my legs and feeling leg weakness. Has anyone had similar symptoms? ## Have you consulted your doctor? Lercanidipine is a calcium channel blocker and you should consult your doctor, because in some people it can cause peripheral edema, which could explain the symptoms you are experiencing. It could also be due to bad side effects of the medication, or dehydration, since almost all of these medications can increase urinary output. Have you been making sure to take in the proper amount of liquids each day? ## Go to you doctor and tell him you dont want to use that drug anymore my experience was over 4.5 yrs I discovered it was the cause of terrible leg aches and more and stopped co...

However, it can cause edema in some people as a side effect and it could get dangerous. 3 REPLIES UpdatedHi. I have recently started taking lercanidipine 10mg and am experiencing palpitations. My blood pressure is also high (156/98). During this time, I was also having green tea with lemons in order to lose weight. Would this counteract or interact with the lercanidipine? ## Hello, Ten Ten! How are you? No, those shouldn't affect it. However, how long have you been taking it? If you just started it recently, it may not have been long enough for it to reach its full level of efficacy in your body, yet. It usually takes about 4 to 6 weeks. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination and hypotension. ## Hi ten ten, I have had the same response with lercanidipine. I moved from amlodipine to lercanidipine b...
3 REPLIES UpdatedI was on cozaar & tritace and had no problems at all, they took me of the tritace and put me on lercanidipine with the cozaar, I don't feel so good shakey and tired all the time no energy, mussy feeling & low grade headach . ## As reported by the U.S. FDA, those can be side effects of this medication, along with nausea, headache, increased urination, and hyptoension. How long have you been taking it? Some side effects take about 4 to 5 weeks to improve, after your body gets used to the medication. Why did they change your medication?
1 REPLY UpdatedWoke up this morning with severe cramping in legs.Am presently taking Accrete d3 tablets and been on these for a while.Should I be taking these together? Also feel woozy bu it wears off. ## Hello, May! How are you? The Lercanidipine can sometimes cause potassium loss as a side effect, and that can cause leg cramping, according to the NIH, so that may be what's causing the issue. Other side effects are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and increased urination. It most likely does not have anything to do with the Accrete D3. How many potassium rich foods do you ingest, each day? What does your normal diet consist of? ## Have been to my Doctor who has taken me off the tablets and put me on to a water tablet.
2 REPLIES UpdatedI have been taking lercanidipine for 1 week and my bp has gone up to 212/101 from 136/85. I have leg pain, dry mouth, sore tongue, puffy eyes, swollen ankles, lower backaches and very tired. Was advised to change from previous medication as potassium was low, although blood pressure was stable. I had no side effects with that medication. What should I do? ## Those can be typical side effects of this medication, as detailed by the U.S. FDA. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache, and increased urination. They are usually transient and should go away, after about 4 to 5 weeks, once your body gets used to the medication. If they do not go away, or if they worsen, you should consult your doctor. Is there anything else I can help with?
1 REPLY Updatedjust wondered it it is safe to still go to the pub ## Hello, Jim! How are you? It could worsen the side effects, as reported by the U.S. FDA, so you may experience more nausea, dizziness and headaches than usual. However, if your doctor approves of your imbibing, please make sure you will not be driving or operating any dangerous machinery. Is there anything else I can help with?
1 REPLY UpdatedHave only been taking Lercanidipine for 2weeks and am suffering with severe constipation , never any bother before ## Hello, Molly! How are you? It's difficult to guess how any given medication will effect any one that takes it, because we are all different, but no, that is not a normal side effect of this medication as reported by the NIH. Its typical side effects include nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination and hypotension. Has anything else changed recently, as in your diet, or fluid intake?
1 REPLY UpdatedI have been taking a 10 mg tablet per day since early in 2015. I am suffering very cold hands and feet. Is this an effect of the pills? ## Yes, these medications can cause Raynaud's Phenomenon as a side effect, in some people that take it, as reported by the NIH. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination and hypotension. Have you informed your doctor? There are alternative medications they can prescribe that are not as commonly known to cause it, as a matter of fact, some are used to help treat it.
1 REPLY UpdatedI have been on this drug 10 mg after having dreadful side effects on Losartan. I have stomach ache which went away when I gave up Losatan started lercanidipine a week later stomach ache returning not as bad will it perhaps improve if I continue taking this drug. Could this make nasal drip worse I am convinced my B P medication causes it.???Gina ## Hello, Gina! How are you? Stomach ache/pain can be a side effect of this medication, as reported by the FDA. You may also experience headache, increased urination, diarrhea and muscle pain. But yes, they are usually transient and go away, once your body gets used to the medication, which may take about 4 to 5 weeks. If they get too severe or continue past that point, you should consult your doctor. As to the nasal drip, they actually usually c...
1 REPLY UpdatedFor me, today is day 8 of taking lercanidipine 10mg pills. I get a side effect. When I eat a meal after taking a pill, my pulse rate goes up to 80 per minute, and takes between 2 and 3 hours to go back to normal, 65. I do not eat too soon after taking a pill; I wait at least an hour. I worry that the 'racing heart' side effect combined with my high blood pressure - typically 160/110 at present - will give me a heart attack or stroke. Should I continue to take the pills? Will the side effect go away eventually? Of course, I will ask my doctor for advice, but I would be pleased to get other opinions. ## Avoid taking the Lercanidipine with fatty meals. It increases the bodies absorbtion of the drug. Take it at least 30 minutes before a meal. Try taking the Lercanidipine halfway bet...
2 REPLIES UpdatedI just want to know if you can take it before tea ## Hello, Jenny! How are you? Yes, that is fine, unless your doctor has instructed otherwise. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination and hypotension. Is there anything else I can help with?
