Leg Burning, Weakness, Inability To Walk (Top voted first)

My father started on Xarelto this past week for Afib and within 2 days gradually started developing bilateral thigh, groin and buttock burning/pain progressing to inability to walk 2 additional days later and severe pain. He is normally a very active person. Has anyone experienced this?

Hello, Greg! How is your father doing? Has there been any change?

The FDA does list those types of symptoms as being possible side effects. He may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache, increased risk of bleeding and easy bruising.

Side effects are typically transient and go away with time, once your body gets used to a medication, however, given the severity, I think his doctor should be informed as this may not be the right medication for him.

Hi thanks for the reply. He stopped the xarelto and started feeling mildly better and can now put some weight on his legs, but is still very weak and has pain. I think it is the xarelto, but the hospital wants to rule everything out. So far spinal MRI and CT back abdomen and pelvis are negative. They did an MRI of the brain yesterday afternoon and want to do a lumbar puncture tomorrow

My husband has been on xarelto 3 1/2 month.He has gotten weaker and weaker can now not walk .
He is now totally bedridden
