Latisse Application
UpdatedWhy should you not apply Latisse to the lower lids? The instructions say DO NOT APPLY TO LOWER LIDS, but I cannot find a written reason why.

I emailed Allergan, maker of Latisse, as to why they say not to apply to lower lashes. Their answer was that the product ends up contacting lower lashes anyway, when the eyes close, and the lower lashes grow also. So basically they are saying that you would be wasting the product. It would be nice if they simply wrote that on the product instructions, because otherwise it gives one the impression that it's dangerous.
Thank you for the info. I agree with you, it would be nice if they included that info in the directions for use.
To answer Jen,
Latisse works on the pigment cells and turns the upper eyelid a darker color, and also the iris of the eye. If you do more research you will find that the same thing would happen to the lower eye area and would cause dark circles under the eye. I would wait a few years before using this product as all the side effects are not really known at this time. Anything that works on changing pigmentation can also cause the same cells to form melanomas, a dangerous form of skin cancer. All medications, for people and animals, should be thoroughly researched and discussed properly with a qualified physician before use. I am amazed at all of the people on these blogs who do not do this and who are willing to use all types of new drugs without knowing what can happen. We are also poisoning ourselves and our environments with all the toxic substances that we waste so much money on. Please, everyone, use common sense, educate yourselves, and try to live life with good diets, exercise, and natural remedies when at all possible. God Bless, Pam
Latisse's active ingredient has been used for years for glaucoma and was discovered to grow longer, darker, lashes as a side effect. I would hardly think it's a poison. Also, it does not necessarily turn the pupil darker. In fact, my PS said that he has yet to see that happen to anyone who has started using it. I think that was probably a side effect when using it as an eye drop for glaucoma.
