Lansoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor that is used to reduce the amount of acid produced by the stomach, to treat or prevent conditions, such as heartburn, GERD, ulcers and gastritis.

It should be taken before one of your daily meals, so it has the chance to start working, by the time your stomach is producing the acid to digest your food.
