Labetalol In Pregnancy
UpdatedOur baby son has just been diagnosed with cht
My partner is worried that use of labetalol in pregnancy may have caused or contributed to this.
Has any one else had similar concerns please?

The U.S. FDA classifies it as pregnancy category c, which means animals studies have failed to show it as being teratogenic.
Although, there has been some data that shows it may be associated with birth defects, but since studies have not been done, there is not certain proof.

It is, however, generally considered the safest choice for a pregnant woman that needs to control her blood pressure.
