Klor Con M20 Trouble Swallowing It

My 102 and 95 year old parents take this HUGE tablet, and they have trouble swallowing it. My mother chews it to break it up, but my research shows this is a bad idea due to more rapid release into her system. Her alternative is to refuse to take it. Is this available in smaller tablets? She probably could swallow two tablets half the size of the 20 meq. I have seen reference to a powder, as well, and wonder if that might be mixed into juice or coffee for an easier administration?

This is a potassium supplement and you are correct, chewing them is a bad idea, because it can cause ulcerations of the esophagus and stomach.

I am not aware of any smaller tablets available, however, you could ask her doctor about the powder, or using an equivalent over the counter substitute.

There are some available as capsules, which may be easier for her to swallow and she could just take several of them.
