Jevity 5.1 Side Effects And Mucous

Has anyone experienced extreme mucous in nasal passages and throat from using this product. The label says it is suitable for those with lactose intolerance but I seem to be having cramping and constipation and so much phlegm and mucous that I can't sleep nights. It contains milk which can be contributing to the problem. I do have sinus problems but I do not have an infection or a cold. This has been going on since I started the Jevity. If anyone has any info please pass it on to me. Thanks.

Have you consulted your doctor about it?

This is a nutritional supplement product, so it isn't really evaluated for side effects, as is done for something considered an actual drug, so unfortunately, this site doesn't have a lot of information on it.

Therefore, I really think talking to your doctor, who can look at the ingredients and see what may be causing the problems, is probably the best thing you can do.

My husband cannot swallow and is on chemotherapy for a tumor blocking his esophagus and thorax. After feedings, he often sneezes, and now he is having nose bleeds. He has a great deal of mucus, and since he has difficulty vomiting the mucus is indeed a problem. Now he has started with diarrhea, so I'm calling the doctor before he dehydrates. My mother is also on Jevity and complains of excess mucous..etc. I was wondering if you had any additional leads regarding this?
If so pls let me know.

My dad is have a similar reaction. He is on Jevity and is getting a LOT of phlem. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have been on jevity 1.5 for six months and did well with the product for the first 2 months, but now I create severe amounts of mucus that has hospitalized me seven times in the past 3 months. I now have to use a vacuum pump to help control the mucus for it cuts off my ability to breath thus sending me into severe panic attacks.I am now looking for a better way to get my nutrition, for a peg tube is the only way I can eat or drink. It also causing constipation where i have to use laxatives to function.

My daughter has been using a GJ tube since 1999. She is experiencing extreme abdominal pain for about 12 hours. Please let me know what I can do for my daughter.

My husband had very aggressive Chemo and Radiation concurrently. The radiation caused bed burns in his esophagus and Caused him to gag and cough up lots of mucus. It was so bad he was severely dehydrated, spent a week in then hospital and 4 weeks in Re-hab to get his strength back. The Dr. put him on Jevity, by g-tube. Has not improved his ability to swallow with out gagging. Does anyone have a solution for this problem?

Did you ever get an answer about the mucous from Jevity. I also have a lot of mucous and would like to know what people are doing about it. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm undergoing facial radiation for six weeks. Had a feeding tube installed in week 2 and the doctors prescribed Jevity. Supposed to be taking in 7 cans/day but only did 2 for a couple of weeks and had some mucus problems and attributed it to the radiation. Bumped up to 4 cans/day and excess mucus is much more problematic. Direct correlation. Hard to sleep anytime due to my nose being plugged with scabs, so have to breathe through my mouth. I wake up every hour or 2 feeling like I can't breathe with the mucus accumulation in the back of my throat. Miserable..no good sleep plus constant expectoration.

My daughter takes jevity for her only source of nutrition. Everything discussed in each message she seems to experience. 2 months ago she was so blocked up that she was in the hospital for an entire week. Constipation was always an issue for her but since jevity she's been seemingly pretty regular these posts seem to make me think otherwise. She can't talk so its very hard to know what's wrong. The mucus seems to trigger a lot of reflux and/or r throwing up.

Please have your tube checked.My balloon started to leak and I stayed sick at my stomach for over a week. Balloon burst, and I had to have it replaced. I haven't been sick since.

Guys, there is a solution! Google Liquid Hope. It's real organic food. My son was on Jevity for several years with constipation and always tired. I just started him on Liquid Hope a few weeks ago so I can't tell if he's much better yet, but I have high hopes that he will be! There is no comparison between the ingredients in Jevity and those in Liquid Hope! And yes some home care companies carry it and it is medicaid approved!
