Jaw Clenching From Oxycontin?

I have been prescribed oxycontin 15mg ER every 12 hours for femoral aseptic necrosis. My femur is literally dying and disintegrating inside me because of 20 years on prednisone for a congenital endocrine disorder. I'm only 25, so these past three months have been the first time I've ever really been on regular painkillers I've finally agreed to have surgery after trying everything to avoid it.

In the meantime, my doctor has prescribed oxycontin to manage my pain but I'm having some weird side effects- total loss of appetite, shakes, hot flashes. It's also making me lock my jaw and clench my teeth to the point where my whole face hurts. Has anyone else experienced this side effect? And if so is there anything that can be done to mitigate it? This is the first medication I've tried that manages the pain without leaving me a zombie so I'd like to stay with it while I wait for surgery. Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately, there isn't much you can do to mitigate the side effects, but they should slowly ease up, once your body gets used to the medication, though that could take a month or so.

This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

How are you feeling?
