Itchy Rash After Methylprednisolone (Top voted first)
UpdatedHow many "rounds" of methylprednisolone should cure itchy hives all over body. If rash doesn't respond to methylprednisolone should I continue taking? Have completed two packs, then went to another kind of antihistimine, and now given methylprednisolone again! How long are you supposed to take this medication for the rash to go away?

I don't know how much methylprednisolone your suppose to take , its stops the itching and bumps for a while then comes back. ive been dealing with this since last October, dermatologist says my body is not producing steroids like it use to
After many appointments with the dermatologist it's time to move on. The biopsy said it's a reaction to the medication I previously had been taking or bed bugs??? You've got to be kidding me! Time to see an allergist.
dermatologist prescribed more methylprednisolone and triamcinolone acetonide cream , been taking it for two days now and starting to feel a diference.
have seen a dermatologist last three times she says its not anything im being exposed to, its from the inside only
Please see an allergist. I had the same issue and saw an allergist and he said that you need to take prednisone in addition to type 1 and type 2 antihistimine. that is for internal (zantac) and external (zertec). it works.
John, please see an allergist. A dermatologist is treating the outside, an allergist will treat the inside and outside. I am telling you, i have been dealing with this going on 2 months. He diagnosed me with urticaria . Look it up. He told me that some people will deal with this for the rest of their lives. Yes, an allergic reaction can last for life. I take zyrtec, zantac and hydroxizine. Look it up
wanda, saw my dematolgist this morning she put me back on prednisolone . also remove skin on my back for a biopsy.....what are you allergic to?
I am allergic to the medication Contrave. I took it a little less than a week and started itching on my hands and feet and then eventually all over even after i quit taking it. then my lymph nodes swole up. I took 2 rounds of prednisone and it helped while it was taking it, but it started back up as soon as i was finished. I am now off of prednisone and i am taking zyrtec and zantac. they are both antihistimines but one treat the inside and the other the outside. when it is severe, i take hydroxyzine, but that is only about once a week. the allegergist said that eventually, i won't have to take the hydroxyzine, he said the problem is i was not taking it with the prednisone. they were only treating part of the problem and not all of it at one time. no prednisone and i am happy about that.
Allergist says take these meds: prednisolone, fexofenadine, calcium citrate, levocetirizine and skin cream for two weeks, then come back in a month. The never ending saga continues...
I had a rash on trunk and arms and it ended up being colon cancer actually mine was more specifics all cancer. They could not find a name for the rash finally 4 biopsies later they said it was Wells Syndrome. Hard to find 6 yrs ago but its etiology unknown- come to find out one night late o. Googled found could be related to non hematological cancer... Sure enough
I have itching small red bumps and need relief. I've been taking oxlar, prednisone and gabapentin under my doctors orders, but they have not helped. Any suggestions?
Several years ago I broke out in a horrible rash suddenly. Doctors treated me for 3 months with Prednisone and antibiotics. I was sent to experts until I deduced what happened. Spinach brought it on. On my own I researched and found out about Salicylates. It seems they are like poisons and are in virtually everything we eat, soaps, lotions, etc. Over time they can build up in the body and the rash occurs because the body is trying to expel the toxins. After 3 rounds of the Prednisone the experts admitted I was right. If you have a toxic level you will have to change your eating habits until they are out of your system. After several months I was able to return to normal eating. But even after years I still have occasional rapid heart beat from all the Prednisone.
Hope this helps.
I have been having itchy rashes on my legs, from my knee to my ankle. What might be the cause of this and what can I use for treatment? Can neo-medrol (methylprednisolone) help?
been on xolar for a year taking two shots a month, also taking xyzal 2 to 4 pills a day depending on the weather. seems to be worst in the colder months than the summer where as most others find the summer month worst. the doctor calls this condition idiopathic urtictcaria ........ what I think this means is the doctor cant fiqure it out..john
Do you or your doctor have any idea of what's caused the rash?
The reason I'm asking is because if it's something that you're repeatedly exposed to, then that could explain why it isn't going away and why the medication isn't helping.
Usually, Methylprednisolone works with just one round of treatment. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, insomnia, irritability and acne.
Have you consulted a dermatologist? That might be the best thing to do, in order to discover what it actually causing the rash.
