Itching From Contrave (Page 2) (Top voted first)

I have been taking Contrave for three weeks and have developed itching on the insides of my hands and the bottoms of my feet. Has anyone else experienced this?

I stopped it over a week ago and am still itching. I've never experienced this before. I am afraid to start the medicine again.

Yes, I thought I had bed bugs or an autoimmune disease. I stopped Contrave as the side effects were not worth the intense scratching.

Also the days before the itching symptoms started, I was hot all the time and would suddenly sweat when everyone else was cool. I thought I was experiencing menopause, but I have a feeling it's also the Contrave.

Do you have a rash, or just the itching?

Contrave has been known to cause a rash as a side effect, as listed by the FDA. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache and insomnia.

Are you on any other medications? The itching could be due to a circulation problem.

No rash. No other meds. Nothing new besides the Contrave.

There's a chance that it's affecting your circulation, which can cause itching.

Have you had it checked out by your doctor, yet?

Has it improved, at all?

I have cut the dosage in half (one pill in the morning and one in the evening) and no longer have the itching problem that I had while taking the higher dosage.

Yes I have been itching not knowing what is going on. Now I know. My scalp, ears, hands, back and breast. It started after I started taking 2 and 2. I am going to cut back to 1 and 1 to see if it helps.

I am also itching from head to toe.
I'm taking 2 & 2 I guess I need to cut back.

Following in the meantime I switched to Belviq. The itching caused hives which is a severe reaction

My dr told me to take a zyrtec every night. Stopped it immediately. She said if that didn't work then I had to stop taking it.

Yes try a Zyrtec every night. Worked for me. It's what my doctor recommended

Yes, I'm experiencing the itching too. Mainly on my fingers but I do occasionally experience itching on my toes as well. It started when I went to 2 am / 2 pm. I dropped back to 2 / 1.

Yes, Contrave has caused horrible itchiness on my feet and palms.

I've been on contrave 3 weeks now. Itching is unreal. my ears, head and back with hives itch so bad my skin turned red. Took Benadryl and took a cold shower and had no results. At first I had no idea it could be the contrave because I've been on it so long. But now that I've read everyone's post I'm thinking it must be. Going to call my Dr. in the morning to see what she thinks. ( glad to see I'm not alone)
