Itchiness And Blood

I took a full course of Ceftin for bronchitis/sinus infection. About halfway through I noticed tiny bloodstains in my underwear where my peninsula and testicles rest. I also developed an extremely uncomfortable itching and redness in my jock area. I also developed itchiness in my scalp and forehead. It has been a few days since my last dose, and the bloodstains are diminishing. The itchiness has gotten worse, however. I don't know what to do. I have scratched and now caused cuts.

Hi Ray,

Sorry to hear about your experience with Ceftin. Based on my research, Ceftin (cefuroxime) can cause the following side effects:

severe skin rash
itching
hives
diaper rash
vaginal itching and discharge (may also be referring to penile itching and discharge as well)

However, because these are all categorized as serious side effects, it is highly recommended that you contact your doctor as soon as possible so you can then take the appropriate course of action in treating those symptoms. Perhaps in the mean time, some sort of OTC cream or ointment may help alleviate the itching.
