Is Nitrofurantoin Safe During Pregnancy

Im 32 weeks pregnant and i went to the ER and was told i had bladder infection .. i want to know is it safe for my baby and me to take nitrofuration? I was prescribed this medication that is 100mg and take twice a day for 7 days ... Im scare for my baby i dont want anything bad to happen because of this medication! I also have hpv i been having for 4 years the last time i was checked in the beginning of my pregnancy at 8 weeks the hpv was not detected but im afraid taking this med it might cause something to the hpv and i dont want that because i want to have my baby the natural way!

Yes, the FDA lists as being in pregnancy category B, which means there is no proven risk to the mother or baby. It also should not affect your HPV, since that is a virus.

The FDA lists the typical side effects of Nitrofurantoin as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, stomach pain and diarrhea.
