It is always best to follow your doctor's instructions.
The FDA lists there are being some possible risks, such as blood thickening and clotting, but it would seem your doctor thinks you are stable enough to be able to stop it, without any serious issues.
Are you on any other medications? Do you have any other medical conditions?
