Obviously you can't just make all these things illegal just because someone got hurt or died from it.

If fentanyl was illegal, then imagine all the other things that would have to be illegal...since they've hurt and indirectly caused the deaths of way more people.

There would be no pain meds of coarse, so millions would be in excrucuating pain after surgical procedures and various accidents etc...
Oxycodone would have to be illegal since it "causes" (Doesnt really cause since the people that take the drugs are the ones actually partaking in the risky behavior. The medicine doesn't jump into people's mouth's or bloodstream's) the death of WAY more people than Fentanyl.
Cancer sufferer's would be left to face unimagineable pain. None of us can even imagine what we'd be forcing them to go thru...all because we don't want to powerful medicines to be available on a black market. That wouldn't be even morally justified....that kind of pain forced on sick people. Simply because we don't want to experience the pain of seeing our loved one's hurt themselves with medicines that werent meant for them.
If we want to keep people from using medicines recreationally, it must be in some other way.

Personally, I wouldn't want to live in a world that just blindly prohibited everything that they discovered to be a vector of accidental death.

No cigarettes, alcohol, driving cars, unprotected sex, pollution....when would it end?

You have to think before you just go crying out "make it illegal!", everytime youre upset.

How about Really?, if a Doctor says its not okay but it feels good?, just be F***ing smart about it! I got hit by a tractor trailer (Transport Truck) 5 F***ing years ago!, went from Oxy 80's w/ dilauded 8's to Fentanyl 175!!, I'm getting off it. Yes it takes away the pain but the way's that you have to do it wearing works yes, but doesn't give you that breakthrough like Perc's dilauded or heroin YES HEROIN!!, they are all opiates!, after my accident I even got at a point of shooting heroin & dealing it. These drugs ALL KILL!!, now people just quit writing & posting about things that you know nothing about and trying to gain people's PRAISE!!!, just f***ing deal w/ IT!!, I'm smart about it. I'm going tomorrow to my Dr. To get switched off of this s***ty Satan drug Fentanyl & telling all here. If you don't know your tolerance don't f***ing touch it & if ya wanna get the highest GREATEST FEELING YA CAN??, DO IT UP!!!!, ... Send me an invite to ya funeral lol ...

Suboxone AND buprenorphine?
Maybe you mean buprenorphine and nalaxone?
Suboxone is a formulation of buprenorphine with a small amount of nalaxone in it.
Subutex is just buprenorphine alone.
Buprenorphine is pretty strong stuff anyway. It has an affinity for the opiate receptor 30-40x's that of Morphine...several times that of heroin.
It DOES have some street value. I've been on it off and on for years.
Works like a charm to prevent WD. It also competitively inhibits any other opiates from working on you too, but don't think you're in the clear just yet.
You have to let go of your desire to get high from now on. The bup really helps a ton.....but its still up to how bad you want to be clean in the end. Its not magic.

Hey ya man I know, it's either that or first what I'm going to tell him is to try the new OxyNeo?, they say you can't abuse it & my desire is HUMUNGOUS!!!, I'm moving my GF down to live w/ me from Manitoba & as long as I'm not W/Ding then I'll be good. I don't want to get high off it I don't even really feel a high from it?, it just makes me feel normal you know?, I'm going to see my Dr. tomorrow & get him to try those out on me for a week & see. My GF is to thank for my stopping dealing of heroin & using of hard opiate Narcs. I'll do w/e it takes now to stop just don't want the WD's ...

Eeeiy, IDK if OxyNeo's will help you kick very much though.
It's true, you can't really abuse them. They are like hardened rubber. They WILL NOT crush. You can cut them into small pieces, but they are like hard rubber and they soak up moisture and swell to 2-3 times original size...thats when the medicine leaches out of them and into your system. You can still go out and get real roxy's or H or anything else and get high from it tho.

If you take bup, or even methadone, it binds so tight to your opiate receptors that even if you did go and score something else, you would just be wasting your time/money cuz it won't get you high.
Methadone not nearly as much. But, Bup....if youre on a solid dose of bup, you gotta wait almost 2 full days (37-40 hrs) before it wears off enough to get high again.
Thats what you really need to protect yourself from break downs in will power. Especially during the first few months of kicking.
Methadone lasts maybe 20 hrs at most, but if you slam enough H for example, you can still get pretty high.
Not on the Bup. I would say thats the best bet.
I hope you have decent health insurance. Subs aint cheap. $350-$425/month supply. $25-$50 for avg. insurance copay.
Methadone, on the other hand is fairly inexpensive....but not nearly as helpful.
Good luck.

Sean, thank you for the reality of this horror.
As I go over the detailed autopsy report
and read the weight of my 18 year old
sons organs... I'M DYING!! Describing
taking the large "hedge clippers" and
cutting his chest open then removing
his heart! Then the medical examiner
Drilled his head open to pull out
his brain and I got the weight on that too!
They put all his organs in a bag, left
them by his feet in the casket. Oh! they
hooked a hose to a main artery and drained
his blood out into a drain on the floor.
Suspecting this was fentenyl, why didn't
they just do toxicology... a blood test?
Nope... Full autopsy is the law! That's how
it is if you mess with this S..T!!
He hadn't done this before, someone
brought it to a party. There was nothing
else found in his system. He was told
It was an awesome high, to take a peice
of the patch and chew it. He died shortly
after he passed out. I'm going to his
graduation on June 2nd, I'll find the spot
on the program where his name would
have been....:(. I have more details
of what they do to the body on that
cold metal table, don't worry though
you'll be dead and won't feel a thing.

Hi,
It kills me to hear that. I have been on Fentanyl now for 2 years & the "high" I get from it?, is just relief of the tremendous pain my titanium leg is in. I know w/ Fent it is the strongest opiate on the market & only prescribed to people w/ cancer, or we're in fatal accident's. I want off this stuff so bad that I will take any steps needed I am sorry about your son.

He was just 17 days away from his 18th
birthday... I had a balloon release at the
cemetery and a cake "Forever 18".
Im sorry for the real pain your in, but
this stuff is a loaded gun! Isn't there
a pill form of fentenyl? I know my son
wouldn't of taken a whole bottle of pills!
When u cut the patch.. a deadly amount
can be in a corner, since the gel is mainly
fillers. The small peice that's ingested
could be the bullet of the entire patch.
Don't cut them!!! Don't take a shower
w the patch on or bath. No heat!!
If I didn't have 2 other children, I would
end my life. But seeing them go through
this unbearable pain of losing their little
brother, I can't yet.

I HEARD YOU CANT ATKE A SHOWER ,MY UNCLE SAYS HE DOES WITH HIS AND THE DOC DIDNT TELL ME I COULDNT! I KNOW U CANT LET THE PATCH BE IN HEAT DIRECT SUN OR WHATEVER.SO UR SAYING I CANT SHOWER FOR 3DAYS? WHY IS THIS??

U can shower, u just shouldn't have the water to hot or if the water is hot, don't let the water directly hit the patch. Reason being, any source of direct heat to the patch releases more medication than should b released which can cause u to pass out or worse, overdose.

Go buy tegaderms at ur local pharmacy. They are like a big clear piece of tape, then u can re-apply the patch and it will stay put. Tegaderms work great!

Im on subutex right know and valume and i have a 100 fentnal patch . Im chewing on about 45 % of the patch and yes its my call and no one elses . I have never ODd
on opiates before because ive been super careful . I know how much i can handle . Its the people that dont think and test small amounts first. Or they think they can handle what they have done in the past . most ODs happen when someone stops using any narcotic for a period of time and then when they decide to use again after months or years the person thinks he can handle the same amount that they used in the past. The worst Mystake ive ever done. I was partying w/ some girls but they wanted to get meth which im not in to . I knew they partied with meth but i did not know where to find and they realy wanted to get high on something so i gave them each a quarter of suboxone which is an opiat kinda like methadone. I evan ased if theve taken vicoden percacet etc. so they took there 2 mg each and 40 mins. later they started overdosing . I was scared s***less I thought i was going to have to take them to the E.R. That just shows how careful you have to be with any kind of drugs. I will never ever give my meds out again. Thanks

Hey there. It looks like you might be trying to learn English a little better? I bet everyone thinks they're being nice by not correcting you, so you never really learn some things?
Well, remember how you wrote (among many other things) : "The worst Mystake I ever done" ? Misspellings are no big deal but anyway, write: "The worst mistake I ever made." instead. The word "I" is capitalized. Same thing with the contraction I've (I have = I've). It's not written "ive". Even when they (I and I've) are not the beginning of a sentence.
"Vicoden" is spelled vicodin, "percacet" is percocet. Elses is else's.
Alright. This is too long now so I'll separate my topic relevant comment.

Those people that you gave the 1/4 tablets of suboxone too and said they started overdosing?

Overdosing just means to ingest more than the medically recommended amount of a drug. I think people have started to think that it means to die from taking too much of a drug or combination of drugs. It sounded like that might be what you meant?
They started to show signs that they were getting "sick" or stressed physiologically from the suboxone....and looked as if they were in danger of dying from it? You said they were going to need the ER?
Suboxone is designed such that you cannot overdose and die from it. Suboxone had nalaxone in it which at high doses, blocks the activity of buprenorphine (the active ingredient in suboxone).
Anyone could ingest a handful of suboxone pills and they would only get EXTREMELY ill from it. They would experience violent nausea, dizziness, vertigo, profuse sweating, flushing etc...however death would not occur unless there was some non-opiate related complication such as an allergic reaction.
Buprenorphine (active ingredient in Suboxone & Subutex) has an extremely high affinity for the opiate receptor (approx. 40 times that of morphine and about 8 times that of heroin), yet it does not activate or agonize the opiate receptor nearly as strongly as morphine or heroin does.
In fact, buprenorphine is known as a PARTIAL agonist of the opiate receptor. It's physiological action on the body is not severe/strong to cause death. Specifically, it cannot suppress respiration enough at maximum activity to cause death. No matter how big the dose is, it's actions are not strong enough to stop breathing. Even if almost 100% of the opiate receptors were saturated with buprenorphine, the activity isn't enough.
Versus something like heroin or oxycodone, where they might not bind to the opiate receptors nearly as tightly/easily/strongly as buprenorphine, but the amount of drug that DOES find its way to bind to opiate receptors is enough to activate/agonize the opiate receptors enough to get a strong enough physiological reaction to result in significant effects on the body. Effects like respiratory depression and blocking pain perception.
I've actually experienced the same thing as you spoke of in different situations. People that are completely opiate naieve and have no opiates in their system at the time, can ingest a surprisingly tiny amount of the drug (about 1/8th to 1/10th of an 8mg suboxone tablet) and still get a reaction so strongly that they experience extreme vertigo, sweat profusely and vomit violently for 48 hours of more. When these effects are full-on, many find it difficult to hold down even water for the 1st 24 hours or so.
Greatly increasing sizes of the dose suprisingly do not increase these effects significantly. Buprenorphine reaches it's dose of maximum effectiveness (ceiling)very quickly and taking more and more of the drug has no effect on the subject after this point.
So, no overdose.

Also, if the subject were to ingest other opiates...even heroin, after reaching their "ceiling" with suboxone or subutex, the buprenorphine "blocks" the drug's effects. They would have to be taken at HUGE doses to overcome the competitive inhibition if they can overcome it at all.
Bottom line is that suboxone doesn't cause death from an overdose. It will make you VERY VERY sick at very small doses if you are completely opiate naieve (have no tolerance to opiates from recent opiate drug use) to opiate drugs.

Thank you!! I am a nurse as well... I had the exact same reaction to that comment... and can say that our paths of finding pain control sound very similar (I think the stigma with nurses having pain must play a role). I am now on 50mcg fentanyl patch, after being on 40mg oxycontin twice a day and 15mg oxycodone up to 4x per day. It is nice to finally have something that I don't have to worry about taking pills with, since I have a disease that also causes much nausea and vomiting. My PM doctor does not want to add a short acting pain medicine at this time because of the risks while adjusting to the patch. Although sometimes I feel I may still need a short acting, the control from the patch is soooo much better than oxycontin.

Sure, go ahead, but first make arrangements at your funeral home, for your casket, and where you want to be buried.

What? You are joking of coarse.....right?

Who is going to DIE ? and from what? The post before yours was from a nurse that has a painful illness and uses oxy.

So, where does the over-dramatic casket stuff come in and why?

I replied to a woman, who wanted to know if she could cut a fetanyl patch in half and chew on it..
Read MCL answer. He knows what he is talking about. I took Fetanyl 40's several years ago. It made me more sick to my stomach then it took away the pain.. I had a friend for awhile, that went into my cabinet, and stole a couple patches. She ate them. She called me to come to her house, that she wanted to tell me something. I went and she told me she stole them, and chewed on them, and felt like she was going to die. I called the ambulance, and before she got to the hospital she was dead. So, I don't care if it was a nurse I answered to. If you don't like my answer, to her post, tough. The reason people write here is to put out what they are doing, and asking if how they are taking there meds is working or not. So if she is a nurse, she should know not to chew the damn things.
Have any of you tried Opana 40's. They worked great until they started putting a fiber in them. They disolve just enough to make you real sick to your stomach.
