I've been prescribed fentanyl 50mg pain patches and i was just wondering if it's okay to cut one in half an chew on it?

Chewing on fentnyl patch can differently kill you. It is slowly released in to your body. Don't cut them just use as directed and if you have??s about them call your pharmacist, they are your best resource. I've been on the patch for 10 years and I'm about to start weaning off them and I'm scared to death it's a horrible withdrawal I've had to go through it before. Chronic pain sucks the meds are not good for us but we need them to try and have some quality. It just hurts so bad even to text this.

Dont even think of doing that, my son died from doing that. Its a 3 day pach and when you do that you get all 3 days at once.
Please, dont even think of doing that.
Very dangerous.

In a word NO! I hope you have chronic pain because that's what it is used for and only that. Not unless you want it release all at one time (that can kill you).

Do not chew this patch as it also contains other ingredients as well.

Glad to hear you took it off. I am thinking you did not aquire this from your Dr. Please do not do it again. If you are in need of any stronger pain meds, see your Dr. I have been wearing Fentanyl patches for 8 years and would not consider adjusting the prescription in any way without my Dr's advice. Fentanyl is a very dangerous medication and needs respect.

I am pain patient, Oxys but out for 2 days had a 75 mcg fentanyl patch , cut in 1/2 put on hip and took off 5 min later. Will I be ok ? Frightened now !!!

They get whats coming to them bro, I know a drug dealer who is in jail and when his wife picked up the family business she drove into a steel pole and died on impact. if i were to sell drugs i would only sell marijuana and DMT. those are the only things that cant make you freak out or die. p.s. thanks everyone for the advice on not chewing or screwing around with these. i will continue to use as directed on the package.

21Sun - I agree with most of what you say. However, you're 21 and have presumably gone through some schooling and education. Why can't you spell and write correctly? Were you eating patches during English class??

Hmmm, I guess every one needs someone to blame. It's a shame that horrible parenting was already taken by your own isn't it? It's beyond laughable that you think a fourum board is single handedly responsible for the poor choices your son makes... who might I add,more than likely spent the majority of his adolescent years under your own, personal, supervision...I am 21 years old and even I know that At the end of the day we are all responsible for the choices we make, now, weather or not we as young adults have been instilled with the moral fiber, self respect, and plain common sense to do so.... Well, that's where you can take that finger.... And point it right back around at yourself mom. I'll pray for you, and your son. Allah be with you.

It took me a week driving around south Florida trying to get my Fentanyl prescription filled. These pharmacists are sociopaths. My orthopedic diagnosed me disabled three years ago and wants me off my feet as much as possible. When I win my disability case I'm moving to France. France has the best medical care. These pharmacists have me running all over town lying to my face that they are out of pain meds, they discontinued that brand, etc. The are given the federal right to discriminate patients. LISTEN....DISABILITY PAYMENTS ARE AN ENTITLEMENT. Okay? When you turn 62 you lose it. Why work some dead - end job the rest of your life when you can retire in the next few years? There is enough money put away to survive 50 million Americans on disability. Get all your medical records together and a disability lawyer....you will thank me later. You worked hard in life. Now it's time to reward yourself. You might die before you are 62. I'm returning the favor...Please do the same for someone else...If we don't help each other out, who will?

you people need to stop complaining abour your pain and do something about it if you doctor won't. maybe one you will realize they don't care about you, in this filthy, corrupt land rule by greed you call amercian, people become doctors for the money. and couldn't care any less about you.

i believe you mean 50mcg, fentanyl comes in micrograms (mcg), not miligrams (mg)

Tammy, I understand being angry and wanting to shift blame to others when a loved one passes in this way. If there is a will there's a way. If he was Committed to getting blasted , and as high as he could, nothing anyone said here or anyone else is to blame for his death. A simple Google search gives all you need. I hope you find peace and I am sorry for your loss.

Thank you? I also unfortunately have a high tolerance with opiates! ! Ii coyld eat n insufflate 6~8 Roxy30 within an hr ..now I have 100mcg mallinckrodt patch can I cut it in fours and chew a 25mg ? N now I heard it has to be used? Ew I don't wanna put it on my skin I wanna feel high now n now withdraw and get by till Friday.. pretty sad I know. ..could ya help me out ?

I'm not gonna lecture you on abusing pain killers but I'll let you know patches are strong so be carefull. i have a super Hugh tolerance to opiates and I chewed a 50mcg and was f***ed up lol depending on you tolorence you should be ok cutting it in half. And if it doesn't do nothing wait 4 hours and try the whole 50. But do NOT chew a 75mcg I almost od on that one. And if you got a bunch of patches and been chewing them for a week your tolerance is gonna be super high and the withdrawals gonna be rough I know from experience haha so space it out to avoid bad withdrawal and BE CAREFUL abusing opiates is never safe but were do it anyways so I'm just sharing some if my knowledge so that whoever reads this can do it safe as possible as abusing opiates can be lol
