Is It A Miracle ?

Fo r the past 4 month I have wasted God only know how many hours a d ay worrying about if I would be able to find a doctor who would continue my MS Contin (100mg) 3 times a day when I moved from FL to MN. I read over and over again about what you should say when you see the doctor. Such as you should not tell the doctor what pain medications have helped you in the past because that could appear to beking. Beilg to have epidural inj's. donon you even if they have not worked in the past. That way the doctor won't think you are just there for the pain meds and are drug seeking. To be honest I am drug seeking because the medication I am on gets my pain levels to a norm of 0-3. If a drug I used to control my high blood pressure worked won't I tell the doctor that? So why would I not do for what works to control my pain. After spending hours reading about what I should say when I see the doctor more time was spent finding and reading reviews trying find a doctor who may possibly help me. It seemed like every time I found someone they did not take medicare or new patients or months waiting. I finally just screw it and went to the phone book and called the closest primary clinic by my house. My doubt developed even more when I checked on the doctor and found out she had just started practicing 2 years ago. My thought was that her education was filled the danger of opiate medication and should never be given long term. When I checked in the nurse asked what medications I was on. When I said MS Contin there was no negative comment or expression from her. But when the doctor came she was very friendly as she asked me some questions like how long I have been on my medications. She also spent a few minutes going over my records and MRI results. Then came the time when I knew she would say I can't prescribe you the pain. medications. Instead she said severe chronic pain is so hard to get controlled so if something works you want stay with it. So I have no problem continue to prescribe your medication. Needless to say I almost fainted. The other surprise was when I went to the pharmacy the lady took the prescription and told me it would be ready in 15 minutes. While I am on cloud 9 right now I know all this could change overnight if the doctor moves or something like that. But I will say to those who accused me as a drug addict because I asked on this site if they knew of a good pain doctor TO STUFF IT. Mean while I will continue to pray for those who have uncontrolled pain to have there own miracle so that we can all live out lives to the fullest.

I'm very sorry that you were accused of being an addict, you don't deserve that. Unfortunately, far too many people like to talk about what they don't understand, I see it happen all too often.

However, I am very glad that you found such a great, new doctor. I know it's a huge relief for you to not have to worry about being prescribed the medications you need.

The FDA does warn that MS Contin carries the risk of being habit forming, and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, constipation, and dry mouth.
