Is Zytomil The Same As Lexamil?

The chemist gave me Zytomil but I have been on Lexamil for 12 years. Is it the same or am I going to start side effects again?

Hello diane,

Both Zytomil and Lexamil contain the same active ingredient Escitalopram Oxalate, so to some degree yes the drugs are the same. What may seperate these pills is what inactive ingredients they use which will determine a number of things including how long it takes you to absorb the drug, flavor, release timing, administration technique etc.

I don't see a reason that you would start experiencing adverse effects so long as you don't react poorly to the new inactive ingredients. If you do start to have problems inform your doctor as soon as you can to ensure that you are still safe to administer the medication.
