Is there a rep. for the ppl. who were controlled on 3 OxyContin OC a day, who now suffer and have proved the new OPs DON'T WORK? NO MATTER WHAT PURDUE OR FDA SAY? We need a rep. for us chronic pain patients, who were controlled and NOW SUFFER & CAN'T DO MORE THAN LAY IN BED CRYING.

Hello, the extremely sad fact is that because of the abuse of the "old" oxcycontin by those who only used it to get high, the newer more "abuse deterrent" oxy is all that is available...

I don’t want anyone to die. Programs for the addicts need to re-evaluated to find out why they fail to keep people from slipping back into using. Pain medication that was prescribed to me was “ the answer to all my problems” according to my doctors 10 + years ago. Then the tides shifted and the opioid crisis became a fight against prescription medication. Honestly if a doctor told me all the possible side effects of fentanyl I Never would have started to use it. The truth is it kept me a functioning member of society with a full time job. Before taking these medications away, a plan needs to be put in place to change patients over to something that can manage the pain with less complications. It looks as if they are looking to flip a switch and cut off all opioid prescriptions.

Hi Gang,

I just ordered a bottle of the CBD oil. I paid for overnight shipping. Should be here tomorrow. I was approved in 3 hours for the 40% discount. I could only afford a small bottle. Please pray for me. The doctor who I had demanded while I was at work to close up the office and come by 5. If I did that the one day I can work due to pain. I was pain free 75% with my old doctor. I got mine Friday, I am not sure how long it will take. I know it tastes different. YIKES!! But I sucked it up and sucked on cinnamon candy after I take it. I feel different with a better frame of mind. My pain is pretty horrific so we will see. I got the CBD Tincture at Lazarus Naturals. Please pray it works I HAVE NO DOCTOR AT ALL NOW. I have nothing for withdrawals. I am 66 and been on major medication for ten years.

Isn't he obligated to give me medicine if I am discharged by him? Seems he cannot hang me out to dry?

Things seem to be getting worse. I have been in pain management for twenty years. The doctor I had been seeing for three years is the worst doctor I have ever been treated by. She has been force tapering me off the meds I have taken for years for my chronic pain. I finally had enough and went back to see my last pain doctor, he agreed to take me back as a patient. I was shocked and scared when he told me that he has had to switch most of his patients over to Suboxone for pain. He has assured me that it will control my pain. He said he has had no choice to do this so he can treat his patients because the DEA and government are shutting down pain doctors.

My other doctor was just going to take me off my meds and let me suffer, my blood pressure has been extremely high because of my pain. I shouldn't have to go on blood pressure meds when the only time my blood pressure is high is when my pain isn't treated properly. I plan on filling a complaint against the other doctor any other doctors, PA's and NPA, that have treated me. I have never in three years of going there have had a physical exam and I have to ask to have my blood pressure taken. She got mad because I told her I was done with the injections she was doing and they were not helping my pain actually it was making it worse.

Sorry so long of a post. One more important thing, nothing is going to change unless we pain patients stand up for our rights to be treated. Check out a Facebook page called Don't Punish pain. There is a rally in almost every state on January 29th, 2019. I believe they are doing another one in July and they will be protesting at the CDC in June. We were all lied to as far as the numbers of deaths caused by this so called opioid epidemic. It's an illegal Fentanyl and heroin problem.

They want us to turn to the street and instantly die off the system

Even drs that want to help us and I have one who has was thrown to see that generics are causing me such serious issues when he justified it because they helped me and I got fit and lost 90lbs

Then came managed Medicaid and it all changed

Meds got worse generics just awful

Stuff is getting real

Percocet is an immediate release medication with a half life of 4-6 hours. Depending on how many and what time of day you take your medication.. Let's say you take one pill at 8 am again at 2pm and once more at 8pm then you go to bed at 11pm. The medication leaves your system after 6 hours and if you've taken it daily for years your body becomes physically dependant on the medicine so when you wake in the morning your brain's opioid receptors are empty so to speak. Have you told your Dr of your symptoms? I'm not a Dr but have suffered chronic pain for most of my life and for decades had decent pain control. It certainly sounds like an extended release medicine would eliminate those uncomfortable symptoms. Good luck!

Big brother is hurting everyone who is in chronic pain. People who have been taking pain medication for years should not have the rug pulled out from under them. This is a short-sighted and stupid way of dealing with chronic pain suffers.

That's all there is to it.

Hello Cristina, I know how you feel because without good pain meds, that is exactly what I do is lie in bed. I have many physical pain issues that have turned into psychological issues as well. Getting a doctor who will prescribe decent pain meds is a pain issue in itself because many doctors will not write and you have just wasted your time and money trying and who knows how many more times you will have to do this until you find a good doctor. I will tell you that I went through hell trying to get one after I had a good doctor but what happened was a delema. I lost that good doc because I was pulled over by an over zealous big in stature state trooper woman who wanted to make a name for herself. She pulled me over for a DWI after following me for at the VERY LEAST 5 miles and a mile off of the exit to try to make her quit following me. The video ONLY showed my field test (monkey see monkey do) where my lawyer and mother observed it and was convinced I was not impaired. The video did not show the 5 miles she followed me as she would AND should have pulled me over much sooner if I was so called impaired and driving so terrible. The main problem was I had just left the doctor's office with my meds but had not taken them during driving. I ended up having to plea to a reckless driving and a psychological evaluation where I had to enroll in an alcohol and drug course. This course discouraged the use of narcotics so I had to get a form signed by my doctor stating that I could use them during the course. Of course that put the doctor in a compromising position when he was then before prescribing 180 mg. of morphine and had to reduce me to Nucynta that isn't worth a ****. And my narcotic meds were NOT confiscated when the cop pulled me over. Even the local cop said I was not "loaded" when I asked him something as he was sitting behind the desk after the trooper arrested me.. Anyway, I had to take a plea to reckless driving. But the DWI arrest remains on your arrest record and when cops run your plates they see that and harass you. After that it took me about 3 years to find another doc that would write good meds.

Now I am hesitant to go back to the new doc that writes because of a weird thing that happened during a simple procedure that he has performed many times already. This particular time it was the same type of simple procedure where they put me out with anesthesia and inj. me with a nerve blocker as many times before.The difference this time was when I woke up in the recovery room it was like I had pneumonia symptoms.with so much fluid in my lungs that I could hardly breath. All the nurses told me to cough but that did not do any good and then discharged me.. I didn't go to the hospital because I have COPD and Asthma meds at home and don't think the hospital would have done much better. So usually, my anesthetics wear off before I am discharged from the procedure but this time it felt like it lasted hours and felt woozy even after I got home. Come to find out later on that day, I had 102 degree fever. This seemed suspicious when I felt very fine and healthy before the procedure that only took from a half to 1 hour...then right after that, feeling like I had pneumonia? So I don't know if I want to go back. What do you think? Do you think I am overreacting? Would you go back to him?

So to get to the issue of having a leader for a pain campaign, I totally agree with you on that issue. I have to say that previously, maybe between a year and year and a half there was a petition that was being passed around and if I remember correctly, I got help from this website. I remember a congress woman that had to lie down every half hour because of her back pain. I don't remember her name but I will try to find out for you. I'm not sure it was her petition or it may have been one of her proponents but maybe we can google it and find out. Or if maybe if MEDSCHAT has it in their archives, we could ask them if they might be able to find it and if they did, we would appreciate it very much if they would mention it on their site to us.

Well Christina, you are right that we need a rep to speak for the people who really need good meds for our pain. These people who are trying to ban them have got no idea how much suffering we are having and it is all in their hands and it does not matter to them because they are not in our situation. All they see is the big OD WHICH WILL HAPPEN NO MATTER WHAT. I just don't believe that the doctors or prescription narcotics are the leading problem of overdoses. THIS IS PROPAGANDA. We all know that mostly all of the OD's come from STREET DRUGS. Why are the doctors and pharmacies being accused? BECAUSE THE DEA CANNOT STOP THE STREET DRUG FLOW. So the only thing they can control is the FDA, doctors and pharmacies so why not blame them for this is their PATSY. C'mon people, smell the coffee. As long as there is a market demand for illegal drugs, there will always be that Pablo Escabar, Griselda Blanco or El Chapo to fill their shoes when they are gone. Prohibition proved that the war on alcohol was lost a long time ago and drugs are no different. If drugs were an issue back then, do you think prohibition would still be around? Even now, many states are considering legalizing marijuana and in Colorado it is a state statute that allows people to smoke it as a pleasure. So Christine, even though there have been petitions but these must keep going so it does not die out and the wrong people will prevail. I was taking the generic Opana they stopped making the brand as they people found a way to abuse Opana. But the generic was my god send but it was taken away and only give a very small dose of Percocet so again desperate for help. I am in Virginia and I will travel as far as the doctor will accept. If you know a dr please let me know. I will help any of you anyway I can.

I need politicians names, emails or address who r involved in this awful mess. I am not electronically inclined so if someone could put me in the right direction either DEA/FDA, congressman, manufacturers, etc. I will get my thoughts out and try to somehow get us heard. Appreciate any advice.

I am so very sorry your having to go through this, I am praying that the FDA and Congress starts listening to us, I have been on these meds as well and after 15yrs of being switched from Oxycodone to Morphine, Methadone, Dilaudid and Fentanyl for pain associated with Crohns Disease and it can be debilitating, I have found that Dilaudid and Fentanyl was the best combination that handles both the pain and severe diarrhea. I have often heard from my patients who suffer from both acute and chronic pain and disease that OxyContin helped them the most, even more than Oxymorphone and Hydromorphone. Just wanted to share this information both as a patient and as a practitioner. Please Note that these types of opiate pain medications are for those who have been taking moderate to large doses of prescribed pain meds who have built up a tolerance and have been adjusted specifically based on their symptoms and absolutely are NOT to be used on an as needed basis or for acute pain.

Yes, every state also has a State Medical Board, and if you feel any wrong has been done by your Dr. including being given medicine that doesn't work, or he won't help, you can contact them, either by fax, or regular mail. and If a complaint is made against a Dr., he HAS to respond within 10 days. I don't know if that helps your situation or not, just wanted to let you know-

I just got the small bottle of CBD tincture I started it Friday. I feel better mentally for sure. Pain is pretty bad. But a person I talked to one person said it took a little while. My problem is I am not always the lucky one. Try it 7 on your side did an investigation said they had nothing bad to say.
there are no know side effects. I tried it and I take a multitude of medication. Only precaution it says if doctor told you no grapefruit I used Lazarus Naturals in the State of Washington I googled it ask if they have a tasteless one I will be asking. This makes me feel better mentally pray pain relief comes soon.

Exactly what happened to me. Soma was supposedly the worst, started having a problem filling Norco (joke), Diazepam (Valium) and Soma, even though I was only prescribed 30 Soma a month, one at bedtime. They told me the same thing and were not nice about it, treated me like I was a criminal! Never had to experience this kind of discourtesy in a store, ever!!

Hi Christine, Fentanyl did not help me either. First of all no relief then I notice my breathing was real shallow. Whether or not it was too much, i don't know but i went back and complained and got on Morphine. A little takes the edge off for me but too much does not help. Of course the thing that helped was the combination of Lorcet and Soma which my doctor will not prescribe for me. They are all paranoid of losing their license.
