Yes, it is the same as Bactrim and it will only help if the tooth is infected, since it is an antibiotic. It may also cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.
However, it will not fix the fact that the tooth is broken, so the infection will keep returning, until you see your dentist and have the issue corrected.
