Pivasta (Pitavastatin) is used together with lifestyle changes (diet, weight-loss, exercise) to reduce the amount of fatty substances in your blood such as low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol ('bad cholesterol') and to increase the amount of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol ('good cholesterol').

I have not found specific details about Lovallo in regards to comparing the two drugs, so I'm unable to tell you if these two drugs are "equivalent" in that sense; but according to your description, both drugs do serve the same purpose.

I hope this helps!
