Is Penicillin Good For Boils? (Top voted first)

Hi, I got a boil on my ankle, my head and my other leg. I took antibiotics called penicillin. They started draining but all of them are still with the core. Is this pill good for this condition? Please help me. It's been 3 weeks.

Hi, My son suffers with boils and I've been trying to get his doctor to order him some antibiotic like she did before but something stronger because they keep coming back. I have some penicillin VK from a couple of months ago and I was thinking will this work for him, so he can get some comfort.

Taking penicillin too soon/before draining the boil will dry the wound and leave a scar. I recommend that you first drain the boil and then follow up with penicillin.

Did your doctor prescribe it for you?

This is an antibiotic that is used to treat various types of bacterial infections. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea.

Sanjyanita, sorry to hear about the boils that you are suffering with. As Verwon said, Pencillin is used for bacterial infections, so if they are not improving after 3 weeks on the drug, either the boils are caused by an infection which does not respond to Penicillin, or there is another underlying condition. Have you been tested for psoriasis or any other autoimmune conditions? Are you taking any other medications at this time, particularly ones that might leave your immune system compromised?

Hello, I've been itching for about 9 months now. Went to the doctor and they said it's scabies and I had a background allergy or something. It was treated and I felt better but I think it's back again because for close to a month, I've been itching too, like the scabies stuff and small rashes sparsely on my legs and it's worse at night. Don't know if it's same thing too.
