Is Oxycodone Hydrochloride Stronger Then Percocet

Hi looking for some guidance hoping someone could shed some light. I have very chronic neck and back pains. I also having bulging disk in my neck C4 all the way to C6. I have been on Norco, Vicadin, Ibuprofen 800, genetic Percocet and name brand Percocet ( the hello pill with the Percocet logo on it) I have had 2 neck procedures done. The first was an epidural shot with trigger points and the second was a radio frequency medial branch remi. Nothing has helped me my doctor is really looking to help me get better I don't know why no matter what I take or do the darn pain just won't go away. You would think be being so tiny the pills would effect me and they don't! I am 5'3 120lbs and I have taken at times 8/10 Percocets in a day to no avail. Just today my doctor changed my scripts from name brand percocet 10/325 to Oxycodone Hydrochloride 15mg. He says there suppose to be much stronger and help with the pain better. But after reading this forum I don't think that's going to happen for me. I am just tired of always being in pain it takes so much out of me I can't even enjoy life. I just pray and hope my doctor is correct on wanting to switch me to a different medication. He said if this doesn't work he'll look into stronger meds. But I don't want to be on pills for the rest of my life either I'm only 33 and to think I am dealing with this much pain now it scares me to think what I'll be like when I'm in my 50's. Any and all feedback would be greatly appreciated.

It took me 3-4 steroid depo medro shots before totally better neck pain. I am very resistant to steroid, cud not sleep, hold my head up, no meds worked, the straight oxy tablets work faster longer than combination wth tyenol, which is percoset. Percosets dont last or work for me, now dealing wth bulging disc stenosis. I also noticed huge diff in brands, Rhodes pharmacy is best i hv had. Much more effective, last longer
My situation is almost identical to yours. I'm same height and weight only a little older than you. Back, neck shoulder pain from auto accident. I've been with pain management doctor for going on 3+ years and tried all sorts of combinations of drugs. I've been up to as much as 30 mg of oxicontin at points but it was so highly addictive I backed off of it. All this had always been in combination with muscle relaxants too. Yesterday I switched from percocet 10-325 to oxycodone Hcl 10 mg which is the same exact pain medicine and dosage without the acetaminophen. Acetaminophen can end up hurting your kidneys or liver so I asked to switch It's the only reason I asked to switch because I'm taken 5-6 per pain pills per day but I'm finding here 24 hours later its not working as well and I can't get out of pain. It's hard to believe that acetaminophen helped the pain so much but at this point I'm unhappy with my decision to switch. I take baclofen with it always which is a muscle relaxant, like I did with percocet, except at night I take soma to help with sleeping. I'm hoping given a day or so my body will adjust and get some relief without having to take the acetaminophen. They are virtually the same except for that and its much less expensive than percocet being just one drug not 2 blended together. I really feel for you and hope your pain doesn't end up being chronic for years like me. It can be super depressing to be in constant pain and relying on medications to make it through each day. The one thing I've learned through all this is to try to avoid going into oxicontin ever because that is so hard to come off of. Hope you feel better soon!
Try Fentanyl patches. These ,like any narcotic can be very addictive and dangerous if abused. I was on 100 micrograms patches for almost a year under a pain management Dr. It really helped but was little tough to stop. I think a much lower dose, 12-25 mics could be very useful for you
Does this 33 yr old with the neck pain know that Percocet can cause one to become hard of hearing. Especially as many as he is taking in one day!!! He needs to pray for healing along with taking medications, so they will work. One can send negative energy when doubting something will work and then it does not work. Ask the Lord Jesus for help, then take the meds. Why else does it work wonders for some people and not a thing happens with another??? Bless you.
I've been experiencing back and neck pain for almost 30 years now with the last 6 being the worst. I've taken all the percocets levels up to 15 mg 4-6 times a day and have had about 10 injection treatments in my back, neck and feet. The inj's. stopped helping so I got Morphine tablets 3 times a day, caused me nausea so I had to go back to the Percocet. The Morphine was the best for the pain relief but the side effects are not good and you WILL become ADDICTED if your not careful. I had my first neck surgery in 2009 replacing 1 disc the again in 2014 replacing that same disc and two more disc replaced. I just had my back surgery done this past November at Duke Hospital in Durham NC and would strongly recommend. I had L-5 and S! replaced with a cage and a fusion, I wish I would have done the back surgery 10 years ago, all the issues are gone still having some surgical recovery pain because I'm back at work now. One last thing the injections caused side effects that gave me cataracts on both eyes, my eye Dr. said he was 1005 sure it was from the steroids in the injections that caused the cataracts because my age was about 20 years young to be having cataracts. I hope I've shared something that will help you. If you need surgery get it done because the pills and inj's. are not a cure, just a prolonged thing.
Keep in mind that the more pills, the greater risk to your liver. And multiple 10 MG pills don't work nearly as well as one 30 mg. What you need is a dilidid patch. And your oxycodone for break through pain...if you even need the oxy..the delidid is a much better pain med.
Bella, I am so very sorry to hear what you are going through, unfortunately I too know your pain & struggle all to well, I am having the exact same problem with meds right now, I've been on percent 10/325 for about 5 years now, had back surgery in June, took a nasty fall in Aug. the Drs. just aren't listening or understanding when I try to describe the pain or the amount, chronic pain messes with your mind and when you hurt so bad you can't focus on anything but the pain, that's not a very happy way to live, anyway I was switched to oxycodone 15 a few days ago, still not touching the pain, I feel lost, no one will listen, and now I don't know what to do, this is horrible, aND even worse no where to turn for help, I just pray one day people are more sympathetic to chronic pain sufferers, I always say just because I look o.k. dosent nesecciarly mean I am, GOD BLESS & I PRAY YOU FIND SOME RELIEF....
Hello, know I am a little late, but ask your doc about Hydromorph or dilaudid they are some of the most powerful pain killers around

I hope it works for you for awhile. I'm always nervous when moved to something new. Somewhere it should also say, usually behind the Oxycodone 15mg IR TAB, the name of the pharmaceutical company. If they forgot to put it on the bottle, you can always ask them, that way if it works, you know which brand you want. it doesn't seem to matter about the size, the smaller has been some of the stronger LOL
Hi CO Susie,
The Percocets were really not doing much for me they were a bit stronger then the Norco as far as being more effective. However, it would take about 4 Norcos mid day to get some pain relief and I knew at that time my body was getting immune to the medication I needed something stronger. As mentioned earlier I just got my new script yesterday and every morning it never fails I wake up in excruciating pain so I was very skeptical that this small pill will work. I was pleasantly surprised the pain was starting to be more bearble when I took it this morning. It's like you stated in your post "I could function and not be miserable all day" I am very hopeful that this pill will work I am just scared cause you just never know. By the way I don't know the name of the pill but the pill itself is very tiny it's a lime green color with a line in the middle above the line there is an A and bellow the line there is a # that reads 214. The script on the bottle says Oxycodone 15MG* Immediate Rel Tabs

I think oxycodone 15mg would help with your pain, if all you have been taking is Percocet 10/325. I took Percocet prior to oxycodone and I could really tell the difference in the effectiveness of the oxycodone, the pain was so much less. The pain in my back and hips, never goes away completely, but oxycodone lowered the level where I could function and not be miserable everyday.
Warning, lots of people have been receiving KVK Tech brand of oxycodone and that brand doesn't work for them. I have had horrible problems with KVK Tech oxycodone, no pain relief and side effects. If the pharmacy gives you KVK Tech, and it doesn't work for you, the problem may be the brand, not the oxy. I put that I am allergic to KVK products and have been receiving ZyGenerics brand which works great.
