Is Opana 10mg Stronger Than A Oxycodone 30mg (Page 6) (Top voted first)
Updatedi have new pesription and my dr. wants me to try opana 10mg. is this drug stonger and how much stonger than my last drug oxycodone 30mg..
The DEA wants opana er off the market. They should be taking fentanyl off the market before anything else!!! People are putting it in pills, illicit drugs, etc!!! And yes, what are we supposed to be on after that!! I hope they don't take it off, but is it ALL oxymorphome or just the formula of opana er?
ok thanks Suzanne i will check that out.
Have a great day! :-)
They quit making those what they only carry r the little white ones which r referred to as the go.
I'll be 65 next month and have been dependent, addicted to oxycodone for over 12 years. Now that Governor Scott has declared a State Of Emergency along with President Trump to fight the opiate emergency, out of nowhere is cutting my prescriptions with the eventual goal of ZERO oxycodone. I blame myself for getting hooked on this crap but the Veterans Administration went way out of its way to make my situation worse. I know for a fact that cutting my pain meds is going to result in turning me into what I always feared. A burden to my wife where I will be unable to do the work around the house and yard. I will become a permanent lump on my easy chair. I am mad as hell. The government is fighting the wrong people. It is the CIA and the Chertoff Group behind the opiate crisis in America. Watch the true movie, Kill The Messenger about a pulitzer prize winning journalist that exposed CIA drug running and got the CIA to admit that they formulated CRACK to get a rich mans drug into the ghettos and as a result, got the CIA to make a public apology to East LA. Was it all along the long-range plans of the CIA to addict millions of veterans to opiates to create a huge market for their Afghanistan opium? In all those pictures of our soldiers walking through the poppy fields in Afghanistan, why aren't they burning the plants to the ground? When the Taliban outlawed poppy farms it was not long till we sent our troops to protect those poppy fields. Was it the CIA that gave the cash to pay the doctors for writing scripts for opiates?
Re: Angela (# 11)
It's a lot I would pay $600 for 140 pills from pharmacy with no insurance
Re: James (# 127)
I just got a call from my Drs office, who has been treating me with pain medication for 13 years!!! I went to fill my prescription and the pharmacist said GOVENOR CHRISTI wants everyone down to the lowest dose and to get surgery or do something else!!! Now my dr is afraid to write any pain meds!!! This is so CRAZY, I can't even deal with this!!!! Nj
Is Opana 10mg the same as Oxycodone 20mg? I thought Opana was double Oxycodone but someone told me Opana 10mg was like taking 50 Percocet 10s, which would be a lot stronger than I thought. What is the real equivalence here?
Re: LuluBella1 (# 64)
I'm on 15mg immediate release Roxy oxy 3 times a day you must determine whose measurement tools you inclined to use. Most doctors use a morphine equivalent standard. The person who posted a link to a calculator is probably familiar with what I'm talking about. What I haven't heard anyone talk about is the human body inside each of us as reacts different for each one of us. My doctor tried to put me on an extended release oxycontin with immediate release oxycodone for breakthrough pain he couldn't get the VA to foot the bill so I was stuck with 30mg morphine ER then all the s*** went down with everyone getting kicked off and here I am on 9 -30mg morphines a day with 12 x 5mg oxycodone immediately release.....so after about a year I noticed in the beginning the morphine wouldn't touch the pain level it was either eat two and feel nothing or eat as prescribed and it tapered off. Anyway my body was so used to the morphine I don't believe it worked correctly after the first two weeks maybe 6weeks then nothing I knew I had to change up something cause they were kicking everyone off for asking for increases so I asked for a decrease cut the morphine out and leave my oxycodone alone luckily that worked and I'm still on the same does 10 years later working fine been on opiates 19 years. So switching to opana or anything else create your self an out or a deal in writing if you can the Damn DEA makes us sign abuse contracts! Try and make your sign something saying he won't just cut you off like so many I've heard from cause once your cut your never getting out on a narcotic in this country until we all stand up and force them to change the laws...

Re: Andrew (# 65)
My liver is checked annualy and so far for the last 19 years I haven't had any other problems I know of became allergic to gluten but don't think it's related. I ask you honestly who do you think you are to dictate to another what they can and can't do? Maybe the guy has no legs because he lost them from an ied while saving your freedom to say such stupid things like stretch more and your hurting your liver. I mean your life must be so excellent simply outstanding you must be in every aspect of your life that affords you the audacity to spread your cynical views onto others. I'm ashamed to be wasting my words on an obviously perfect human being who doesn't need correction nor except criticism. It's disheartening and troublesome we share the same name good luck Andrew!
It isn't a totally fair question. Oxymorphone (Opana) is listed as being 2.5x stronger than oxycodone. Since Oxymorphone is a motabolite(sp?) of oxycodone it has a much longer half-life. I want to say it is 3x as long. However, the issue comes with how you are taking the drug. PO: oxycodone gets 90% into the bloodstream when taken PO (orally); oxymorphone gets 10% into thé blood when taken PO. Insefilated: oxycodone gets 40% into the blood; oxymorphone gets 90% into the blood.
Sniffing a 15mg Opana ER (has to be the generic brand now) is stronger and has a last longer than the OC 80's (old school - obviously not referring to the OP's).
You can get it at Walgreens and Rite Aid. I think you might also be able to get it at Walmart.
This month I changed from a oxycodone 30 to opona 10 IR and the first dose of opona is so much stronger but when u take the second dose ur looking for the relief were as the 30 after 4 hours is like the first dose every time but also into account the opona lasts for 4 to 6 were as the oxycodone wears off 2 hours later.
Hello this is my first time responding on asking anything on here but I saw you said you were taking 15mg of opana and I was prescribed that also but every pharmacy I have been to say there's no 15mg they have to give me a 10mg and a 5mg to take together. Is there a such pill as an opana 15mg? Thanks any info is appreciated.
Why don't you try Methadone. Methadone remains in your body for 24 hours. It's the best pain reliever for you never feel euphoria from it. Only relief from pain. Good Luck.
Your addicted and need to start stretching our something. Your liver will be not working very soon and behind a transplant. Please look into alternatives.
No true. Walgreens or HEB will not carry. Need to go to Speciality pharmacist. I've called HEB and the still tell me that there is not a generic for 20mg ER when I have been filling for 6 months now. My pharmacy just happens to run out.
I sorry man I was like that and the only thing that worked for me was oxycontin 60mg or 80mg three or four times a day and oxyicodone 30mg for breakthru. I can't believe it has a such a bad name it was the only thing that worked for me. Opana is a joke. If you really need the pain gone it's oxycontin.Dont go below 40mg the 30mg ones seem like a placebo. Hardly any effect.
Don't f*** with patches!!! That's all I have to say.
The generic for opana is oxymorphone
I take 20mg oxymorphone er and 10mg oxymorphone ir(percocet) for chronic pain
It is ridiculous and unconscionable that you are offering lightly cloaked advice to misuse Dilaudid/Hydromorphone.
Folks, if you have serious pain, don't waste your pain meds getting a high from them that will last less than 2 hours. When you crush your ERs, they're not ERs anymore. You get the entire dose at once- and can easily be killed (depending on tolerance).
There is a membrane at the back of the (nasal) sinuses colloquially called "the paper thin membrane". It protects your brain from the junk in your nose (mucus). Crushed up pills are famous for burning holes through nasal CARTILAGE, never mind what they do to membranes and the lining of your brain. Most of us have heard something about how a movie star burned a hole in his/her nose had violent seizures and nearly died. Why does that happen? YOUR BRAIN can't tolerate having crushed up narcotics spilling DIRECTLY INTO IT.
I also am a Pain Management Patient. I was on Exalgo (Dilaudid ER aka Hydromorphone ER) 16mg a day with 8mg ir 3x a day. That was great for quite a while. Then it wasn't. When you get to Hydromorphone there's really nothing new left to play with (new drugs are in the development phase though).
It's really a matter of reviving the ER/irs that worked best before and seeing what works. Your doctor will start you off on a dose that's clearly too low, to try to wean down your need. My doctor restarted me on a 50 mcg Fentanyl Patch per 72 hours and 2 Morphine ir 15mg a day. That was rough. BEFORE I ever went on the Exalgo, I was on 100 mcg Patches every 48 hours AND 30mg Morphine! I have landed COMFORTABLY on a 75mcg Patch @ 72hrs and 3 15mg Morphine ir daily!!! THIS IS A SUBSTANTIAL REDUCTION! THANK YOU Dr. R!
IF your dose continues to increase over time, both in dosage and strength of narcotic, you will hit the ceiling. Your Doc won't go any higher. Perhaps they suggest Methadone. Maybe they want to refer you out to a Suboxone/Methadone addiction clinic. Take those med changes and reductions before that happens. If your pain is completely unrelieved, it's time to confer with surgeons. Don't expect your Pain Management Doc to suggest that, because his/her job is rehab, spinal inj's. and pain relief. Further you may want a referral to a neurosurgeon, rather than an orthopedic surgeon, if your neck is involved. It has been my experience that Pain Management Doctors almost always refer to Orthopedic Surgeons-- when the well-being of nerve structures are imperative in many surgeries.
