Is Methenamine Hippurate From Aurobindo Gluten Free?

I have a gluten allergy and have recently started taking Aurobinido's Methenamine Hippurate marked E 71. Is it gluten free and safe for me to take? I’m having GI issues and can't find any other foods or meds that could cause the issue.

This tablet is an antibiotic containing Methenamine Hippurate 1g (NDC 65862-0782).

The inactive ingredients are listed as:

- Magnesium Stearate
- Povidone
- Saccharin Sodium

According to the list above, none of those are gluten-containing ingredients. One thing to keep in mind with antibiotics is that they often come with GI side effects. Reported adverse effects of this drug may include nausea, upset stomach, dysuria, and rash. Are you dealing with any of those?

Personally when I've been on a round of antibiotics, I have taken a probiotic supplement with it. I prefer Florastor {aff link} as it is not killed off by the antibiotics and seems to keep my GI tract in order. I hope this helps and best wishes!
