Have you consulted your doctor about going back to the prior dosage?

Nifedipine is a calcium channel blocker and it, as well as most other blood pressure medications, can cause rebound effects if the dosage is lowered or the medication is stopped suddenly. These effects can actually result in your blood pressure going higher, for several days and can also cause elevated heart rate.

So, in essence, the dosage usually has to be lowered slowly, which is why it's best to discuss it with your doctor on the proper amount to lower it by.
