Is Fexofenadine No Longer Manufactured? Discontinued?
UpdatedI just tried to order my refill of Fexofenadine from my mail order pharmacy and was told that I could not because it is no longer manufactured do to the fact that Allegra is available over the counter. I was told this occurred on June 7, 2011. Has anyone else had this problem? I ordered from the mail order pharmacy because it was cheaper to get a 90 day supply from them than getting a 30 day supply over the counter.

No, Allegra/Fexofenadine has not been discontinued, but it is now available over the counter, just as they informed you. You can purchase both the generic and name brand over the counter.
A friend of mine just purchased a 90day supply of the generic for $20, OTC.
You may want to check with a local pharmacy. I know that purchasing the generic for Pepcid, Famotidine is only $4 a month through my pharmacy, rather than the $40 I would spend for the same amount over the counter.

It might simply be that with it available OTC, they would have to drop their price so far that it is no longer viable for them to offer it that way.
Are there any other questions?
I too use to get my 90 day generic through my mail order prescription service for $20. Because it is available over the counter, at a much higher cost I should add, I can no longer get it via mail order service. Where did you friend purchase the 90 OTC supply for $20?
My Walgreens notice said it is discontinued or removed from the market.
I was just informed a few days ago that Fexofenadine was "discontinued" by my mail order RX company as well. What is the generic name for it? $20.00 for a 90 day supply is awesome. Wonder if Wal-Mart sells it. I certainly can't afford the OTC price for Claritin or Allegra!
Where did your friend by this 90 day generic for $20? I find it hard to believe it exists as I've been looking for a cheaper alternative now that Fex is purely sold OTC - and the cheapest I've seen is about $25 for 20 days. At this rate I'll be getting off Fex.
Please do share the location it was purchased and name on bottle if such a thing does truly exist.
I just went into WalMart to pick up my prescription of Fexofenadin 180 MG. My prescription insurance would not cover it because the Pharmacist said it could be bought over the counter and Ins. would not pay. The cost was $75, I did not get the prescription. Going today to find out cost of Alegra
