my baby is 3 month old and the doctor adviced him to drink amboxol syrup im wondering why not ambroxol drops is syrup safe for his age with a dosage of 2ml twice a day my baby's weight is 6kls

Yes. I have tried it to my niece whose 8 months. Ambroxol mucosolvan drops 1ml 2x a day. Yesterday I had no choice but to buy it for her breathing is so fast and is having a hard time. And after gving ths med. Last night and this morning he becomes better than yesterday. That's with my niece. I dont know if the reaction wud be the same with ur child. And u need to throw away what is left after opening it for 2 weeks.

hi. im a new mother, 27 yr old. my child is now 2month & about 3weeks. ( born september 27, 2015). his birth weight is 3kl. i have colds for a week and also we traveled for 4days. he had baby exzema for almost a 3 weeks. now he has dry cough for 2days but he sounds stuffy in his throat. he is nuaseated too. i just went for check up and the doctor prescribed these : 1. ambroxol drops 0.5ml 2x/day for 5days 2. PPA + Cpm drops 0.25 ml 3x/ day for tdays 3. cetirizin drops 0.6 ml once a day at night. ARE THESE SAFE FOR MY KID? im worried coz been searching net and i havent found an article or any that recommends medicine for babies under 3 month as yet. Looking forward for suggestions/ recommendations. tnx

Hi ivy,

I have read that any cough/cold medication (specifically over the counter medications) can be potentially unsafe for a child under the age of 2. If your son is dealing with a cough or nasal congestion, I recommend giving him a hot bath or using a humidifier in his room... the steam may help to loosen up the cough and clear the airways. If the symptoms persist or worsen and giving him the medication is your only option, then I suppose it would be best to follow your doctor's advice and give your baby the dose that your doctor prescribed.
