Iron Smelling Cervial Mucus, Bloating, Sharp Pains, Muscle Aches

Last month my cycle was thrown completely off, I started AF exactly one week before it was due and it lasted nearly 10 days. I went to the doctor and I got blood work done and a vaginal ultrasound. Everything was ok, except that the lining of my uterus was super thin. She prescribed me Prometrium to take daily before bed time. The first day or so wasn't bad. I am now on day 9 of taking this medication and I'm curious about a few things. First, I know that Prometrium can cause bloating and cramping, but I'm getting very sharp pains when I have to urinate or go number 2. Also, when I try to eat, even after eating one bite I get sharp stomach pains... Eating is almost like torture the past couple of days. Another thing I noticed, that has never happened to me is sticky, thick, white cervical mucus that smells like iron, its a very very strong iron smell. I've had no itching and I have had the same amount of discharge as normal, it's just different and smelly. In the past two days I have also had some flu like symptoms. I don't have a fever, coughing, or anything of that nature but muscle and body aches like crazy. I am ttc but only for two months now so I'm not sure if pregnancy could be a factor in the way I feel or the weird smelly discharge. I plan on contacting my doctor, but no one is in until Monday, I mainly curious about the thick, sticky, white, iron smelling cervical mucus.

Prometrium is a form of the hormone Progesterone and it can cause most of the symptoms you've described as side effects, the only one I didn't see anything about and have not heard of before is the iron smell to the discharge.

Learn more Prometrium details here.

Usually, the bloating and cramping is caused by gas, which may also explain the sharp pains and stomach pain.

However, you should contact your doctor to make sure that there isn't something else going on, just to be careful.
