Iron Infusion And Hair Dying

I recently had an iron infusion for low iron levels. A short time later I went to have my hair cut and dyed. As the girl was applying the dye, my hair started to turn purple. It was washed out and I was unable to complete the hair dying process. Does anyone have and information on the effect of iron infusions on the hair and how long will it remain in the hair?

There is a chance that it was actually due to your low iron levels, rather than the iron infusion.

Hemoglobin provides your hair with its red tones, so if you are low in iron, it can wash your natural hair color out to a different shade, which can alter how a dye works on your hair. If you've been dying your hair all along, you may not have even noticed a change, since anemia only affects your natural color.

It may take a few months, but things should return to normal, after your iron levels are corrected, and your hair starts to return to normal. Alternatively, by informing the hairdresser of this, they may be able to alter the dye they use to accommodate for it, or you may want to consult a salon that custom mixes their own colors.
