Information On The Fentanyl 75mcg/hr

I am currently taking the 50 mcg/hr fentanyl patch. I have symatic dysfunction of the sacrum. Have been on vicoden 10/660, those were probably the best. (4 per day). Then doctor wanted more of a pain management therapy. we tried the 30mg morphine, didnt work at all, wanted to increase to the 60mg but they are not prescribed hardly ever and no pharmacy even carries them. They have to be ordered and then if you do get them, they are extremely expensive, even with insurance. You have to go up to at least the 80mg then the price goes down considerably. the fentanyl seems to be the best working for me but i need to be bumped up in mg. Like i said, im on the 50 now. If I go to the 75, is it going to be like trying to find the 60mg morphine? Or do i need to just go up to the 100 fentanyl. I do not have insurance come the end of this month, (3-31-14) unless my medicaid is approved. The reason the 60mg morphine is so expensive is because they are very rarely prescribed. Is this the same as the 75mg of fentanyl? or should I just ask my doc for the 100mg? I really need this question answered because like I said, If my medicaid doesnt go through, I will be paying cash and we have finally found something that works for me, but I do know I need a higher dose. I love the patch. I dont have to keep taking pills all day long! I have had no side effects what so ever either. So basically my question is how commonly used are the 75mg fentanyl's? which is more common, the 100's? again its because of price cost to me. Please respond asap! My next prescription will be due soon and I would like to tell my doc what is going to be better for me, cost wise. Thank you

Hello, Keri! How are you?

I'm sorry, but I can't tell you whether or not any pharmacy in your area carries the 75mcg patches or not, I have no way way of knowing that information.

Have you checked with the pharmacy?

This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
