Infected Cartlidge Piercing

My cartlidge piercing is infected. It's red, hurts and also gets yellow puss. The skin is starting to cover the piercing but not that bad. Would Amox-Clav 875mg help the infection?

Yes, it should help, if you take it as prescribed. My doctor prescribe it for me when I had my naval piercing done, since I am a heart patient and she wanted to make sure it didn't become infected.

The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash, and diarrhea.

Are you being careful to care for it as instructed? How new is the piercing?

It was prescribed for me because of something else but I didn't need the rest of them so I had left over ones. I got the piercing about 6 months ago. I've been cleaning it with sea salt warm water and also been crushing up aspirin and mixing that with warm water so the pain can go away. I read to do that online.
