Inactive Ingredients Levetiracetam
UpdatedMy daughter and I are epileptics, we are currently on Levetiracetam me 2000mg her 1500mg, manufactured by Sunpharma. I have been informed by my pharmacy the company has discontinued it. They can refill it by another company I'm told the inactive ingredients can be different does this make a difference? And can we get seizures I'm concerned, but do not have a choice. Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Hello, Addison!
The inactive ingredients are considered inactive for a reason, they are not known to affect the way the medication works or to have any biological effect on the body for most people. Thus, you both should be fine. There is a slight chance that one of you may react to something in it, if you're allergic, or if there's a variance of the active ingredient, but it's not very likely.
Levetiracetam is classified by the FDA as an anticonvulsant and its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, mood swings and weight changes.
Is there anything else I can help with?
